anyways, as far as Slayer being considered early death metal or black metal, I believe they are neither. they are still a thrash metal band, albeit quite extreme.

the first real black metal band was Bathory, not Venom. Venom is NWOBHM leaning on thrash. as far as death metal goes, yes I believe Possessed is the first.
