TS = TubeScreamer, it enhances out mids. The old timers (old school death metal), like myself don't use them. Hence oldschool.

You mean you got the tone on your mix that tight without a TS. I am impressed! If you don't mind me asking, what did you run the guitars though?

Yup, this was my Dual "Racktifier" no TS, I use orange and red channel. Red for bite and orange for lows. Cab was my Mesa OS, Mic is a good ol USA single SM57 Unidyne 3.

yo, here's a quick mix...
nothing extremely special, cause I didn't wanna spend too much time automating etc before the general direction is clear (Drums need to come up, uits a tad down etc)...mix/master is pumping, stuff needs to fixed and adjusted here and there but I wanted to hear your opinion before I proceed.

The references you gave were quite different from each other (fleshrot and pathology have a COMPLETELY different sound), so I just kinda ignored those references and did what I think is best for the song.
As I said, juicy thickness/brutality was more important for me than clinical tightness of the guits

Was the song/mix supposed to start ¼ into the song? The beginning of the song is missing.

These headphones I brought to work are not as good as I hoped for but I am diggin this mix for sure. Guitars are sounding close to the best I have heard so far for this song. Cymbals might be a bit low but again hard to tell with these headphones.

Did you use the drum samples provided or do something else?

Overall this is in the top 2-3 mixes so far right up there with Fragles mix.

Yeah, the references are a bit different from each other but the overall guitar tone and productions are great (IMO). Love the up-front and in your face guitar tone on the Fleshrot and the Pathology is nice and thick. Just wanted to give a little direction so people were not going for something completely different. Even then most of the mixes have been off with the guitar tone, maybe it is my guitar, pickups or something; or I just have something totally different in mind for the song and I am wrong…LOL

Again, I am under NO time frame/limit so ANYONE that wants to try feel free or those that have tried no rush.

Nice Mix Burny! Still missing the mark a bit on the guitars but this is solid for sure. Clean mix but I really need to listen at home and in car as well.

I will write more tonight...

nah, I agree, cymbals are too quiet...did that on purpose though cause I didn't like the sound too mch and haven't had the time tu use the midis to get better sounds yet.
drumsamples are a blend of my own and D4.

yep, I cut the first section of the song to reduce upload time...figured all the parts come up again later and it'll be enough for the first judgement.
K, I'll work on the drums and overall clarity then tomoz

I love the bass tone here, fits the mix really well, I like that clanky bass tone that cuts thur in this mix. I listened to this for a minute at home this morning and thought the same thing. The vocals seem to have something different going on, too much up front or something, hard to tell hear at work.

Another one of my favorite mixes.
