December : genre?

What sort of metal do you think December play? I'm having trouble figuring out what it is. I've been listening to them for ages now, and i've seen them live three times, but it's only recently occurred to me that I really couldn't say what kind of metal they play....

is it just technical metal? is it some form of death metal do you think? I was listening to Lamb of God the other day and found some striking similarities....do they even have a slight hardcore sound??

Are we talking the Decmber who made The Lament Configuration? There could be more than one band called December, I dunno. If the one I mentioned is the same, I'd have to say technical death metal. They do kinda have a slight hardcore sound in some parts (the ending riff of Quiet Cold comes to mind). Their sound resembles As The Palaces Burn era Lamb of God quite a bit (not as much New American Gospel I don't think), and the reason is both The Lament Configuration and As The Palaces Burn were produced by Devin Townsend. You may already know all that, so if you do, sorry. Hope that helped.

ive been meaning to check out this band for a while but always wrote them off as hardcore...i dunno why. arent they signed by earache?? Maybe its my avoidance of that label for the most part...*shrug

i heard people classing them as nu-grind when they first released the lament configuration but yeah id rather class them as technical deathy metally stuff, jolly good, saw them live with the haunted
