I voted Deliverance Good damnation sucks... Why..? Well Damnation sucks for not being in my cd player right now... I can´t wait for 14th april

i voted for damnation being good, and deliverance sucks...even though i thought deliverance was still pretty good...but that was the closest option to my opinion. In all honesty...i like damnation much more than deliverance...deliverance just wasnt quite what i expected it to be, and i was fairly dissapointed.

Well I think Damnation is awesome, the only negative thing I can say about it is that the songs aren't long enough like other Opeth songs... but it was very nice experimentation. The only reason I may ever dislike Damnation is if they stick with this style. It's good for a CD but not a good choice for a complete change. And I must also say Mikael's experimental singing on In My Time Of Need is certainly very impressive. Not very demanding or anything, but it is a nice style, a good change and adds great character to the song.

Simply put, Damnation is a sweet CD, but if it were to be the new Opeth permanantly I'd be very depressed as Mikael is the most talented vocalist being very impressive in all styles and being the best growling vocalist I've ever heard.

Meh, I'm rambling.

I hear ya. The lighter side of Opeth isn't why I came, it maybe a big part of why I stayed, but it was not the initial interrest. Eventually Opeth will settle down, but let's not bet on that just yet. It's still early in their careers as the ultimate melodic death metal band ever. ;) I love your avatar btw.

As for the poll, I think Deliverance is outstanding. Needless to say, I'm pleased with it. However, I didn't vote because I've been waiting for the original Damnation, so I haven't heard it yet.

Welll I can't really have an educated opinion about Damnation since I've only heard one song off of it (takes 20 friggin minutes to download the songs on my slllooooowww computer!) BUT I have to say I LOVE it! They definitely didn't dissapoint me (I knew they wouldn't) If that song is indicative of what the rest of the album is like I will love it for sure! Now for Deliverence...this one took a while to grow on me, but I really love it too...Mikael is completely brilliant I don't think he is capable of writing a bad song!:)

I voted both kick ass!

Deliverance is brilliant, and what I've heard from Damnation is even BETTER! Hence, both are fucking amazing... :)

I read this forum more than I post...but John I just wanted to tell ya I think you're right on most of the time!!!!

Deliverance is good to average (by Opeth standards), Damnation is boring (by any standards). obviously I'll give it more time, but it doesn't do anything for me. (and YES, I do like a lot of mellow music, so that's not it.)

Damnation is better in the sense that Deliverance was an 'ordinary' Opeth album, yet is was so simple... the simplicity suits Damnation better... they just got alot of things right with what they were trying to do with Damnation, as opposed to Deliverance which is pretty much a sub-par Opeth album.
