I just read this part, and I disagree immensely with this. Literature (especially Joyce, Pynchon, postmodernists and all poetry in general) has a PROFOUND effect on me, even moreso than music or painting. There have been times that I've put down a book, looked up, and felt... I dunno, supreme in some ways. There have been many books that have made me delve into myself to an unprecedented degree. There's just something that happens that can't be explained, but can definitely be felt through art, and I think seeking these experiences are worthwhile. Being learned is important too, but I think we miss something when we go entirely "factual" with our discoveries. That's one of my big problems with Rand - she goes entirely for the FACTUAL and REASONABLE, and, in my opinion, that does not create transcendental art. Anything that makes you see the world in new ways, alters consciousness, makes you feel that resonance... experimental music, Finnegans Wake, Bosch paintings, whatever... I'm not advocating drugs, but what is genius other than a mind that's abnormal? Or insanity? I just think there are avenues of discovery in the mind that can be tapped into through many methods. That said, this is probably meaningless to 99% of people and I get rendered an "art-fag". Whatever. It's certainly not something that can be explained with words. If that's all you were getting at, then I agree.

And as far as RIA saying I lead an decadent's life... give me a break. I'm not fuckin Jim Morrison or anything.

I really meant that from the point of view of the average person in conveying thier own thoughts, literature is not always a pure tool because of thier own uneducated status,
its just that I'm sure people can hold great intelligence, understanding, visionary thought without the means to convey it
but its just a thought really, I may be proving my own point by not having the literal means to make my point...if you get my point :lol:

Dude I may of overlooked your attack on me. But frankly I don't give a fuck about someone who mainlines Robintussin MD's fucking opinion.
