Around the beginning of December I started the Paleo Diet (Meats, Veg., Fruits, Nuts, Water) and for a while it worked out pretty well. A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine introduced me to this thing called the Warrior Diet and the idea of one meal a day intrigued me. I tried the one meal a day thing for about a week and it wasn't really working for me. Instead of using either of these diets I combined the knowledge I gained from both of them and did extensive research on the internet and came up with a diet plan that works for me and my active lifestyle. I am still in the experimentation phase, but I am trying to do something with this one meal a day plan.
Keep in mind, I consider myself to be in very good physical condition. I am in the Army, 6'3" and at my last army weigh in I was 174.4lbs. I work out with the Army 5 days a week; 3 of the days my unit does heavy weight 50lb + ruck marches up into the mountains for a min. of an hour and a half starting at 0530. The two other days we have the same time period devoted to running / sprints and upperbody workouts ranging from pushups, pull up, to ring dips. In addition to that I go the the gym in the afternoon evening and do the workouts posted on the crossfit website (rather, I do what I can of the those workouts).
In conclusion, use the information at your disposal and be smart. I do not believe that any one diet is right or anyone, but if you sit on your ass all day you probably don't deserve to have that soda, that cheese burger, or that bowl of icecream three times a day. Keep in mind, that many people can eat whatever they want and have no side effects, but that is not a choice that I would choose for myself and I do not recommend it for anyone.
EDIT: I also want to add that once you start eating the right foods you will find yourself to be full longer and have more energy during the day. Hunger is not a bad thing. This is just another instance where you can use your mind over your body to control yourself and gain some self-respect and discipline.
