Dimmu Borgir at Ozzfest '04 official

Dimmu did not sell out.
As long as they don't rap then they are not sellouts.
They still play BM but BM isn't played in the basement anymore and that is something Darkthrone and the rest of those "true, grim" BM bands need to learn.

Amazing. Finally Ozzfest is a show worth going too. You get to see Ozzy who is classic, fucking Judas Priest reunited with the Metal God, Rob Halford, Slayer who's live shows will kick anyone's ass...and now Dimmu Borgir. Finally...it's time to show more people in this country what this fucking amazing band is all about. Of course there's shit bands like Slipknot on the bill too, but it's to be expected. I hope to see more quality metal bands added to this line-up, but this line-up alone is absolutely worth going.

oooooooo man...theres gonna be some mosh for this one. I feel bad for the trendwhores...they better learn their ass some kungfu...they aren't gonna know what him em. Metalcore is the new nu-metal and its fucking great!

Hey Robohead.... your a moron. For all Tid and Death Cult Armageddon are different. Yes. There is a decade between the albums. It's called progression. Evolution. Change. It happens. Now die please.

Actually Dimmu did sell out.

Listen to For All Tid. Then listen to the new shit.

See a difference?

Yes, because any time a band fails to sound exactly like they originally did, each time, every time at ALL times, they're clearly only in it for the funds!

And don't even get me started on how Dimmu cheaply began sounding *better*. Talk about commercialists.

If you were in a band and had an underground following but had the chance to take it to the next level and change the tide of heavy metal tell me you wouldn't.
I wouldn't.

DCA sounds like alt metal.

In your opinion, yes. That's the beauty of music. It's not definite and it's open for interpretation. You may not like the sound now, but you cannot directly deduce that DB are 'selling out' because to you they sound like 'alt metal.' Anyway that is for a different topic. Want to bitch about Dimmu? go to a "Bitch about Dimmu" thread. Back to the Ozzfest lineup...

Headbangers ball has some good bands on it. I watch that show frequently. I think it's great that good bands are getting recognition. I am SO sure that if people on this board got into a band that will be successful they would refuse a chance at exposure.
"Here, we will pay you shitloads of money to play your music on our show, and you dont have to change anything."

"No."

....exactly. Tonight I saw...Chimaira, Soilwork, Iced Earth, Dimmu Borgir, Morbid Angel and others on FUSE's Uranium...Metalcore alone isn't getting all this exposure...look at the facts.

Well, Chimaira sucks shit, but I see your point.

Dimmu didn't seem to happy to be on, and they seemed pretty annoyed with her too.

As far as I know (or least what Silenoz said in some interview I read a while back) is they just want their message to reach more people, and that is why they're obviously trying to spread music through ways they couldn't have before.

Oh they definitely seemed annoyed..lol...that chick is obnoxious. And no I'm not a chimaira fan..but I'll take them over Puddle of Mudd or Linkin Park any day.

Lamb of God's gonna blow the shit away. Somehow those faggots jumped in while the door was open and now Slipknot's in.

Question:

If you like the new Dimmu Borgir, why do you hate Slipknot so much?

The only real difference in the two bands is that Dimmu uses a lot of synth.
