The growls on this song sound especially cathartic, delivered slowly and extra deep. One of those songs that make you realize how much mileage they can get out of the clean, heavy dynamic.
Why is it, so many other metal bands songs sound not only the same upon first listen, but after repeated listens as well? You realize first listens do not do Opeth songs justice. Distinctions appear that casual listeners don't catch. How different is Dirge from SPD or When or Deliverance?
