I'm just confused. Where should these bands go? Should MDB have been in the traditional/doom thread? They definitely don't fit in the death metal thread. And where does Neurosis go?

i'd prefer this list if it included non-metal that's tangibly related to metal or would appeal to metalheads. bit of a loose, arbitrary guideline but i'm fine with that personally.

that said, i understand if people want to differentiate between non-metal and metal genres we thusfar haven't covered.

I'd personally be interested in seeing people's opinions on the best prog rock and goth albums, but it would belong in the social forum.

the plan has always been that there's gonna be one catch-all 'other' thread where all these bands will go. we're just discussing the finer points of what should be eligible for that thread and what shouldn't. personally i think if it's metal (or, frankly, even metal-ish) and doesn't really fit into one of the already covered genres then it's fair game. no reason to overcomplicate with a bunch of other restrictions n shit.

That's what this thread is ironing out. I would say MDB belongs here is it was neither death metal or trad/doom.
