Do Akerfeldt and Swano not get along?

uhm well they both played at wacken in july for bloodbath. after that, opeth has been on constant touring, and there are rumors of an akerfeldt/wilson/portnoy project, so he doesn't have time dan swano probably has his own stuff going on too. on top of that, you're an idiot; do you expect them to be working together all the time? what gave you the idea that they DON'T get along?

There's also the fact that Dan and Mike's musical interests are just very different. Dan has stated numerous times that he thinks the first two Opeth albums are still the best ones and that he didn't like the albums that came after that as much because they lack memorable hooks and catchy songwriting. I don't think Dan is really into the whole disharmonic stuff and elaborate compositions that Mikael seems to love so much. Overall I just get the impression that Dan likes poppy stuff with catchy and memorable hooks whereas Mikael is more into weird/disharmonic stuff.

i agree with this, but the impression i got from the original poster was that they personally hated each other and were in some kind of feud or something.

I spoke to Dan at an Opeth show Dec 4th and he was very positive and enthousiastic about Opeth and Mikael. He also likes Ghost Reveries a lot more then the previous 'newer' Opeth albums. Because Mikael now uses a lot more major-chords in the clean parts (I read that somewhere). He indeed likes the more catchy stuff, but ofcourse they get along. Mikael welcomed him in Swedish during the gig. I didn't understand a word but it didn't sound like swearing..

Blimey: Just becasue they don`t work together doesn`t mean they hate each other. I am honestly very suprised how anyone can come up with such a conclusion becasue of that.
