Do you know what is sexxxy?

Some of that's Nora. She sings for the most excellent Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire (local band- Andrew Bird used to play violin with Squirrel Nut Zippers). I heard her at local shows called Hoot Nights where they take a theme and have a bunch of local acoustic guitar-toting folks do covers associated with the theme. Like the Cosmos Hoot, in which Dag Juhlin (formerly of Poi Dog Pondering) did the Ace Frehley love tune ROCKET RIDE, etc. etc. Anyway, I loved her voice, and found out that Rodney Pawlek (manager of Macabre, Yakuza, Debris Inc.) went to school with her, so I used and abused the connection system and wrangled a way to get her into the studio with us.

I was planning to go see her sing tonight, actually. She's got a 2-person thing called Cantina playing at the Hideout.

Like after I drank my 179th beer in the studio and belted Kernon the Barbarian the way he needed it.

Seriously.

And that gives me an idea- we should do a scat version (the Mel Torme scat, not the wwwdotpoodotcom scat) of that song and a couple others- maybe a'capella with some shakers, upright bass, and bongos. Anyone got some bongos? Maybe we could all do some stuff like that and release a Dark Symphonies Scat CD- you guys could do something like Heaven and Weak or Birth Pains. Rain Fell could do some, Brave, Autumn Ted.... it'd be a million seller!
