do you think opeth will ever top still life?

You do realise opinions on the best Opeth album are so varied theres no way you'll be able to get a straight answer from this thread?? Don't you? :rolleyes:

In my personal opinion...Still Life is their best, and no they haven't topped it.

But the next person will tell you something completely different.
 
I used to think Still Life was their best cd. Now, IMO Morningrise is a better album. Dont get me wrong, Still Life still pretty much blows away most albums out there. But then, thats just my opinoin.
 
It depends in which way you mean it. As a collection of individual stand-alone songs, Blackwater Park owns its ass along with Orchid... however Still Life flows quite well, but I guess if that's its highpoint, you've got MAYH which has it beaten :). It has some good leads/rhythmic but then again Deliverance has some better ones, so I suppose Opeth have already outdone Still Life in just about every aspect, just through a collection of different albums.
 
Still Life was the album I heard first. Then I went and got MAYH. Very cool. Didn't like it as much as Still Life, but it was damn good. Then I got Orchid and Morningrise. Eh..... Not bad, I didn't like them as much as MAYH or Still Life though. Then Blackwater Park came out. HOLY SHIT. I like BP and SL both equally well, just in different ways. I still prefer Still Life over BP I think.

Then Deliverance came out. What a pile of dogshit. I'll just forget I ever heard about that album, and pretend it doesn't exist. It's Opeth's bastard child I don't like to talk about.

Can't wait for Damnation. I think it'll be GREAT.

Moonlapse Vertigo is my Fave/2nd fave Opeth song. Period. Period. Period.... (Hehe, get it... 'Period' '.' ) ;)

And yeah, unfortunately intresti, your assuming that every one's fave album here is SL (in my case it's tied betwen SL and Morningrise)......

Perhapas it would have been better to say "Do you think that Opeth with ever top their current best CD (in your opinion)"

or

"Do you think Opeth will do another Album in the vein of "Still Life" but better?" (And in my case it would be a definite "YES!", Getting Steve Wilson in on 'another Still Life' would be a blessing)

P.S. Then again, perhaps you phrased the question intentionally, to get a rise out of certain people.... that seems to go on alot around here....
