I'll be very disappointed if they only release this gig on CD. I rarely buy live-CDs, don't ask me why. Maybe... for me it's neither fish nor flesh. Either I want to here the studio recording or I want to *see* the band live. But just hearing it live...
It's a different thing if a band isn't so much a studio band. In my jazz collection there's much more live stuff. Back in the day, say pre-70s, recording music was more like taking a snapshot of what a jazz band was normally doing on stage. So, the live stuff was the original and the studio stuff was added value. Nowadays, it's more the other way round ... the polished and composed studio stuff is the original, and then there's some touring to promote the CD.
In short, I want the DVD. I want to *see* them play without standing in the crowd. I don't need a compilation of songs that I already have on the studio CDs. It'ld still be a different matter if they'ld play the songs differently, if they'ld change the arrangement, add some new stuff or something. But I doubt that.
