embarrasing bands/artists you liked before getting into metal

I've still got a soft spot for the Spice Girls. I think I may have the movie still too.
But then you've got artists like Vanilla Ice that you can sing along to.
Yea, I know I'm an idiot.

have some appreciation for yourself, mate.

Anyway I was into classic rock and some Russian pop but then at the age of 18 I discovered Metallica through their cover of Queen's Stone Cold Crazy. Slayer came immediately afterwards followed by Tristania, Children of Bodom and Death. The rest is history. Overall, nothing to be embarrased about, since it is through these entry bands that I've learnt to appreciate other music

My first metal band was Unearth, followed by Meshuggah, As I Lay Dying, and especially In Flames which I bought all their albums. Followed by Opeth, which is my favorite all-time band... I never liked any of the bands mentioned, or any nu-metal bands, such as Slipnot...

BEFORE listening to metal?

um...alot of alternative artists, nothing too embarrassing. When I was in 3rd grade I loved Nelly, Usher, Britney Spears, shit that a 3rd grader is supposed to like.

Hey I still love my 80s pop and don't care what anyone thinks :)

Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, Corey Hart,Billy Idol, Rick Astley, Cyndi Lauper, Night Ranger, Starship - all that stuff! Where are my parachute pants...

I got into the Spice Girls when I was like, 9. I have damn good memories of sneaking my best friend out to watch them shake their asses in their platform tennis shoes.

And about Vanilla Ice? C'mon, it's hard to ignore. I've heard the lyrics "ice ice baby" once a week for the past 4 months.

Doesn't mean I'm not ashamed.

I was referring, to the "yea, I know I'm an idiot" part

Nu Metal like Mudvayne, Disturbed, and Slipknot, all those bands have went downhill since 2000 when I got into them and I wasd also heavy into rap as well. I still listen to rap sometimes but mainly death and black metal.

I really liked...

the specials, the jam, 10cc, the stranglers, dexys, tenpole tudor, the wombles, abba, queen, nazareth and boston.

The only one that comes to mind is the gorillaz, but I still listen to them even after my transition into the metal realm. I just haven't found their cd.

I STILL LOVE GODSMACK AND KORN AND DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT YOU THINK!!!

I was into fear factory. Soul of A new Machine and Demanufacture are some of the first heavier/extreme cds I remember hearing.
