embarrasing bands/artists you liked before getting into metal

Out of all the music i listen to the only thing i dont know why i listened to in the first place are the smiths and morresey. I still love mudvayne and early korn so FTW!

I actually like the Smiths. not ashamed of it either.

Hahaha this thread is great.

Probably the most embarassing is that I very briefly (thankfully) considered buying an Avril Lavigne CD.

Other than that, mostly just Linkin Park. I got into metal fairly quickly after I started listening to music a lot (age 13-14) I still actually respect Linkin Park's vocalist, Chester, he has a good voice. Not very metal, but it could be interesting in a post-rock band or something of that sort.

@Greys

How can you be ashamed of liking RATM? They're like the ONLY mainstream rock band worth listening to, and they destroy. Morello's a great guitarist.

Thats odd, how can you tell the difference between that one and "for the win"? Context?

Whoever neg repped me for this calling me an "internet nazi" is a dumb fucking cocksucker. It was an honest question, because I have never seen ftw used that way before. I dont know what somebody could possibly see in this post that deserves negative repping.

So basically, whoever you are, you are a stupid cocksucking anal pirate.

Some guilty pleasures of mine (aka bands that I still like but don't listen to nearly as much anymore):
1. Dimmu Borgir
2. Children of Bodom (but only Hatebreeder really)
3. Lamb of God
4. Unearth
5. Between The Buried And Me

A year before and during junior high:
Korn, Nirvana (everything alternative), Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, industrial (anything I could get my hands on)

Early high school:
Marilyn Manson, glam metal, industrial (primarily Skinny Puppy and KMFDM), classic rock

Later high school:
Pantera and White Zombie, some classic rock/metal and glam metal

First year of college:
It was all over. I found DM (all forms) and went on to thrash, power, folk/viking, doom, and BM in that order. I still listen to Skinny Puppy, Led Zeppelin, some Sabbath, Pink Floyd, but I'm not embarrassed by these bands, however I turn red in the face when I admit to used to being the biggest Marilyn Manson fanboy.

Unearth are good.
