embarrasing bands/artists you liked before getting into metal

first album I ever bought was Limp Bizkit's "Significant Other" after I liked one of the singles I heard on MuchMusic

Now THAT I don't listen to anymore. I'm not really embarassed though, it did eventually point me in the right direction!

Unearth are good.

Not really. Their music is useless to me.

And what's pathetic is that you said that when Children of Bodom, an obviously, vastly superior band, was on that same list. In additon, also listed were Dimmu Borgir, Lamb of God, and Between the Buried & Me. ALL of those bands far outweigh Unearth in overall talent and songwriting.

And they're catchier. :)

I used to be the biggest Avril Lavigne fan. It kind of progressed like so:

1. Avril Lavigne
2. Simple Plan, Good Charlotte
3. System of a Down
4. Nirvana
5. Three Days Grace, Strung Out, The Distillers.
6. Cannibal Corpse, Burzum, No Doubt, MSI, Children of Bodom, Thrice.

Now I'm into pretty much everything except pop, country, rap, and r n' b.

I'll listen to anything. No matter what it is. But anyways, an embarrassing band I used to listen to?

Hm. There's a lot. KoRn. Linkin Park. I jumped from all that crap to The Black Dahlia Murder, THEN to Dimmu Borgir and Nile and such. DM and BM have my love now.

Three days grace to Cannibal Corpse. Pretty big jump.

Three Days Grace aren't all that bad, though.

When I was in fourth grade I listened to a lot of pop music like Nsync and The Backstreet Boys til I was in about sixth grade. Some friends and I even danced to one of their songs in the fourth grade talent show. In sixth or seventh grade I started to like rap and pop/punk bands like Sum 41 and Blink 182. From there I started to get into real punk, then hardcore, then metal.

I do not understand how a male can listen to the backtreet boys,etc.... My aunts boyfriends son is 15 years old and listens to the backtreet boys and various boy bands, it blows my mind. They are so goddamn strict the kid can't even find his own taste in music or movies unless it's PG and really think it's normal. To me something like that is not normal and I would like to tell my prozac aunt she's bonkers . I have talked to the kid and he wants to listen to other things and they tell me it's bad or violent and will not let him purchase.

Get a second hand buttstreet boys cassette, cover the dub holes with tape, tape over pre-recorded music with an assortment of metal.
Covert operation to get the metal where it needs to be the most!
(make sure he has headphones!)
