No problem dude, glad it was helpful! And at first I was thinking of getting a Blackout Neck to try, but my complaints with this one were fizz and less tightness, and while the neck may have less of the former, I very much doubt it has more of the latter (since as far as I could tell from my spec-scouring, they're identical except for the magnet; ceramic in bridge, Alnico in neck)

True, the tightness isn't there with the Neck either. I like the soggier sound, especially since my amp is tight as hell, but a few people have called my tone mushy before and its all in the pickup.. the same settings with my Bareknuckles have a much drier, probably overly tight sound.

I'd say Duncan, it's not as muddy as the 85 IMO. And actually, I just tracked a solo for Grywolf on here with the Blackout still in my guitar, and I really love the tone of it - I love the 81 for rhythms, but not so much for leads, but with the awesomeness of Quick-Connect, it'll be no trouble to drop in the Blackout when I wanna so some serious solo recording!

Yikes! To me the 18V EMG (clip B) sounds awful. I really love the fatness of clip D, but overall clip C is the best all-round sound for this type of music.

Ok, CBDA for me. At first I wrote down CDBA, but that's b/c I think I wrote something down wrong b/c I could clearly tell that CB and DA were the groups. Either way, I definitely liked C the best.

D and A sounded way looser than C and B. I'm not sure if it's only the looseness of the bass in A and D, or just more bass/mud, but it makes them sound less clear than C and B. D is slightly more clear than A

I don't really have anything against loose tone. In fact, I wonder if things can ever get "too tight."
I just rpefered the tighter tone and slightly more clear tone of the tight ones in this one instance.

I don't think the blackouts are so much worse, just a different type of sound. I'd blend 2 tracks of both because although looser the blackouts have a smoother and in a way thicker sound.

If I wanted loose I'd date your grandmother - and shove badgers up her cunt to keep things nice and echoey. Fuck tubes! Fuck them!

Jeff

HAAAAAAAAHahahahahhaha, one of your best yet Jeff - can't argue with shock value! Hack and Poi, I'll check that out when I get home dude, looking forward to hearing all 4! Mark, no prob buddy! :kickass:

Oh yeah, SS amps are definitely "tighter," though in a lifeless, stuffy, and generally unpleasant way IMO ;)
