These are the few that I've heard and liked:

Shadow - melo-death, female vocalist
Azrael - Very good heavy metal/hard rock
Funeral Rites - Death metal

Probably because I wanted to see if anyone had heard of Azrael, or Shadow. But apparently I am the only one aware of these bands

i just heard Sigh's imaginary sonicscape, now i don't know what the fuck i just heard because i have never heard anything like it, but i was enjoying whatever it was

finally a japanese band thats not pop-rock, but im still confused

merzbow - noise (a lot of his stuff is boring but he has some good albums)
masonna - fukkin harsh noizzzzze
envy - screamo/hardcore/postrock
incapacitants - noise in a more epic vein
polysics - batshit noise/prog rock or something
the gerogerigegege - punk-influenced noise/performance art
GO!GO!7188 - kinad pop/punk/surf rock or something
high rise - psych noise/blues rock
boredoms - psychedelic noise rock
acid mothers temple - psychedelic noise/blues rock

the last 3 bands actually dont sound that much like each other despite similar descriptions, it's a matter of degree i guess
