Clapton from the old days and a bit of Coldplay, Tool do fairly well. My biggest guilty pleasure is Disturbed The teen in me comes out to play sometimes, and Disturbed seem to do it for me

One of my all-time favorite bands-- The Allman Brothers. Duane Allman r.i.p. is one of the best slide players ever. Berry Oakley's bass playing was so melodic r.i.p. The percussion of Jaimoe, Butch Trucks is brilliant. For substantiation, check out "Hittin' the Note" Guitar now being played by young-guns Derek Trucks(nephew of Butch) and Warren Haynes (Government Mule)

Most of the music they play on radio and MTV pretty much sucks, not because it's mainstream, but because it's not very good.
System of a Down isn't just awful, their earlier albums were pretty good.
Disturbed's not bad either.

Keane--"Under the Iron Sea" good album. I always liked Elton John's earlier records--"Tumble Weed Connection" and Madman across the Water" Indian Sunset off of MATW is one of his most beautiful songs. Clapton, with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers from 1966(not really contemporary but,) A foundational record for electric guitar playing. Steve Hackett was quoted as saying that record " is the Bible of electric blues playing."
