Hello gentlemen. I just finished my first mix using the TSX X30 amp sim and was curious how you think it sounds.

I'm very, very impressed with the VST sim and I love the fact that I don't need to use a boost to get it to cut the way I want.

Guitars are quad tracked, 2 tracks X30 -> Recabinet, 2 tracks X30 -> Catharsis impulse.

Thanks for listening!

2nd mix with less harsh guitars (2.5k cut) and less muddy bass.

3rd mix with much tighter guitars

4th version (mix 3 with no eq on master bus and softer compressor and limiter)

I love this song dude. I think the guitar tone is really nice too - I actually think there is more clarity with this, than the other mix of this song I heard. Are the cleans X30 too?

Thanks man! Sorry for now clarifying, only the distorted guitars are the X30. All cleans are done with my POD and Gearbox. Bass is also all Gearbox.

I love your productions splat, sounds pro dude :headbang: Almost too pro  The guitars sound great.

I don't like the playing of the drums, maybe you should go in and make it sound less tight, add some mistakes in there or something. Make them a bit dirtier with a tape sim or something. Otherwise great as always. :worship:

You've always done the best mixes on this forum, imo. I love them. Drums and bass and vox have always been awesome, and you've stepped them up a level here. The guitars finally match them.. amazing work.

This is spectacular. Superb. Amazing. Reminds me of Dream Theater, with better production and a better singer. Only thing is the bass distortion during the clean verses is a bit much, I think it's that pod fizz though.

That distorted guitar sound is literally beautiful. Totally awesome song too, the clean guitar sound is really really 80's chime.

Sounds amazing Splat!!! Love the song and sound is unbelievable...
Would you please share some screen shots p, patches for the cleans ?

Thank you so much! I'm flattered. I can see where you're coming from on the drums. The beat the real drummer played was way too hard to program with the ghost notes and stuff and that's the best I could come up with. It kind of bugs me too, but I'm willing to deal with it at this point!

Wow, thanks. I have to admit that I LOVE Matty's voice and its one of my favorites, not just because he's my friend and all, but I truly think he has a really cool vocal style. I love his lyrics, too.

Thanks! I was totally going for an 80s clean guitar vibe. If I'm being honest, the Queensryche song Suite Sister Mary was my inspiration behind this particular track. The clean tone they get on that song, especially on Operation Livecrime is shit-tastic!

Thanks Dimi! Here's the clean tone patch that I used on my POD.

Its a dual tone setup on the X3 so keep that in mind.
I used a Fender HM Squier with a Hum-Single-Single setup and used the neck and middle pickups combined for that sort of jangle-like sound.

And thanks Morgan C and Rex for the comments too!

Sounds awesome :)

However, I think cutting a couple of db between 2khz and 3khz on the guitars would help a lot...they are a bit harsh right now.

I really love your work, and I'm often checking out March Hare on soundclick.. I'm happy to hear that you have tested my ampsim ;) Did you use the latest version? (1.03 ..)

Love the guitar sound, the x30 fizz sound so great in a mix! Vocals sounds great too, really good mix!

Hey Splat,

that's really awesome. Very good everything. Really, nothing to point out. I would only have all things listed here. Great songwriting, outstanding drums, great guitar sounds, massive overall production, etc.
Do you have the lyrics online somewhere?
