Folk Power Metal

Seditious just owned this thread.

Falconer:
s/t
Chapters From a Vale Forlorn
Northwind
Sceptre of Deception

(In that order)

I'd also recommend Kiuas. They have some really folk influenced power metal.

I was thinking about listing Wintersun.

But both Ensiferum and Wintersun are slightly more extreme vocal-wise than typical power metal. The instrumental styles are similar, but the vocals might not be what he's looking for.

well i wouldnt label wintersun as power metal. nor would i folk metal but i think they can kind of be described as ower metalish but not folk metal/. ensiferum, folk/viking/power metal. lol everyone knows wintersun is epic majestic technical melodic metal

I don't mind extreme vocals, but I'm looking for clean.

Not sure if Mägo de Oz qualifies as power metal exactly, but they're definitely on the cleaner end of the spectrum.

Wuthering Heights and Dalriada own everything else here.

'Shadow Cabinet' from Wuthering Heights and Dalriada's 'Kikelet' are masterpieces

oops, forgot couple more bands.
Check out

Spellblast(something like rhapsody with folk elements)-

Skiltron-

Also, check out BattleLore and Nocturnal rites.(Not 100% sure whether they are folk or not)

Battlelore is more symphonic, but they have some folk stuff in there. Not "folk metal" though. And Nocturnal Rites are power metal; but still, they're fucking awesome power metal. Elvenking are very power metal, so maybe mutantllama would like them.

Also, mutantllama I'd recommend you try:

Human Fortress (songs like Border Raid in Lion's March, Schattentor, Skin and Feather, and Defenders of the Crown) They're not so much folk, but they have a very medieval sound.

Listen to the last three songs on their myspace first (Defenders of the Crown is my favorite), then listen to the newer ones if you like them. They just released a new album and it has a different sound than their older material.
