For those of you who have ordered 'The Odyssey' and have not recieved it yet

I did download as much as I could from the album, after I had pre-ordered the CD off of Amazon. Here's my rationale; Symphony X, being one of the most complex prog bands around, tends to take some time to get used to...as far as how rhythms, melodies and harmonies meld together. I'm going to one of their shows in December and I want to be able to sing along with every last syllable that Sir Russel sings. If I didn't get the CD early, I'd be listening to it every waking moment (kind of like I did when I found the CD online) to try and get the songs down. I'm a percussionist and a guitarist. Their music has changed my musical outlook, similar to what DT did for me back in '97. I have listened to this CD at home, during my one-hour commute, and at work...all damn day long. It's excellent! So, why should I wait because a record label picked a date out of their a$$ to chose to release an album. Yes, I realize that they need it coincide with the tour, and that the band needs some time-off before they start touring again, but that's no reason to keep us in stitches waiting around for the album!!! I have no patience for waiting for waiting's sake.

See Y'all at the show!

I live in Singapore, ordered it from Metalages and got it within 5 days. Was quite surprised at that..

Regarding this whole "downloading the songs of the internet before you get the CD" stuff, I think its a bit patronising to say "well you must be young, one day when you are old and wise like me, you'll understand honor" (or some crap like that). Different people have different views on these things. I personally think its ok to do it, as long as you buy the cd. The internet is a great vehicle, especially for bands like Symphony X, to get more exposure. Especially a few years ago, the only way to get their cd's was to order them from overseas since they had no label in the US. I had the DWOT CD on MP3 for about a year, simply because I could not get a hold on the original. I bought their discs when I went to Europe and found their albums in some hole-in-the-wall record store. Now that I moved to Singapore, its become even harder, since NOBODY here listens to this stuff. Also, I think that most people who are into this kind of music will want to buy the CD's anyway -the artwork alone is worth the price of the CD!

my 2 cents.

There's nothing wrong with downloading the music to get a preview copy if your legitimately buying the CD. As long as you don't take the MP3's and burn your own CD there's nothing wrong with this.

I ordered mine from metalages.com last Friday, and it hasn't come in yet!!! It's ships from Virginia and I'm in Texas, so I figured it wouldn't take nearly this long. Damn U.S. Postal service!

I do have the album downloaded as mp3's, but I really want the CD! Woe is me. If it doesn't come tomorrow, I'm probably going to end up having an anurism or a psychotic episode of some type. Pray for me everyone.:D

Yeah it made my day when it came yesterday. Nothing would've made me happier! I downloaded 'Accolade II', 'King of Terrors', and 'Inferno' long before I ordered it and it's still a phenominal album!

I ordered my copy through Amazon.com. And it still hasnt arrived yet. I hit the cd store last night and theres a copy of the limited edition, god I was pissed off. So here I wait for the mailman. I hope to god I dont have to wait thru the weekend. I havent downloaded a thing from this cd, I cannot fucking wait much longer!!!!!!
