Fredman Micing Test Clippage - Focus Shift Intro

This actually sounds pretty cool! I hear the timing issue a bit, but it's not that bad.

The whole thing does sound kinda muffled tho - maybe move the mics closer to the tone, or raise the on-axis mic a bit, level wise? What amp/cab was this?

Ah, there's the difference. With that technique you have to have one of the mics lower. I can't remember off the top of my head, but just experiment till it sounds right. I think in the "Clayman" thread people were suggesting about -12dB between the two mics.

Having said that, awsome tone man! Does well for a Powerball. Once you get the mics right and a bit of EQ on that you'll have a really crushing tone.

Might wana check the fine tuning on your ax too btw :p

Thanks Neb. I'm actually a tune Nazi and made sure it was perfect before recording. Although I beat the shit out've the strings. So I don't know. Cheers for listening.

Hehe, no biggie. I could only really notice it during the chords in the first riff. Could be the pounding of the strings or a slight bend as you frett the chord/ notes. Only very slight though, and the awsomeness in the tone makes up for it. The PB really comes alive with the right cab.
