Im just curious what song u guys would ask to be played at there funerals. me i'd choose

At The Gates-And the world returned..
or Hypocrisy-Until the End

I was talking to my girlfriend about this the other day - after the service I'd make everyone theresitdown and listen to every Opeth album, in order, in full. With a warning that I would haunt anyone who left early. But in all seriousness, ATM (my tastes are bound to change in some ways or I'll find new bands etc.) I'd like some This Mortal Coil to be played :)

Epilogue is a good choice indeed! Other songs that I would like to add are...

At The Gates - Into The Dead Sky
Autumn Leaves - Resigning From Life
Saturnus - Fall of Nakkiel (Nakkiel Has Fallen)
Testament - The Legacy
Testament - Trail of Tears

Heh, this thread prompted a ramblings excerpt:

THE UNOFFICIAL FINAL WILL AND TESTAMENT OF HOSERHELLSPAWN

All of my earthly belongings will become the property of my remaining immediate family depending on whether or not I bit the dust before they did. Any of my close friends who wish to gain ownership of these items may request to do so and the family can decide. Anything left over I wish to be donated (or the proceeds therefrom donated) to a variety of worthwhile charities working to save lives, or advance the living conditions of those born less advantaged than I was in Canada or abroad.

Alright, now that the insignificant stuff is out of the way: NO FUNERAL. I dislike funerals and I don't want to know people are sitting around crying about me, instead, I want a Wake. A SECULAR WAKE. There will be no crying, no crosses, no religion, no praying or expressions of "mercy for my soul". Instead, I want all of the people I love to get together, get pissed drunk, laugh a lot, and continually toast me. I want my life celebrated, not mourned, and I want my passing to create at least a small degree of happiness, even if it only lasts for the duration of the party. No "Amazing Grace", I'd prefer Opeth's "To Bid You Farewell", thank you very much. And play some loud, happy music, too. The Beatles or something.

Nextly: I want to be cremated. NO CASKETS. I dislike coffins in life and I'm very claustrophobic, I'll dislike them in death. Also, I don't want my ashes left in a cemetary somewhere with a bunch of other dead people, they are to be spread as far and wide as they can be taken. Take the urn up into an airplane and spread them over the entire province, that would be great. I am a wanderer and an adventurer and would hate to have my earthly remains kept together in one place. I'd rather be sort of ...omnipresent. (Actually, I don't really give a rats ass, I just like the idea that people might inhale me. Hehehe...)

Finally, someone please see to it that my art is remembered. Get my photos published, or something. The art of the artist is the artist, and I'd like that to be a part of what I leave behind.

Masters of Alcohol by Bloodhammer (describes me!)
then everyone sits around and is forced to sit through shitty 4-track recordings of my shit. After the hysteria has diminished from that, I'd make them listen to Benighted, after which all who cry will be smacked by a designated family member. Then beer. After enough beer, all will listen to Venom, and they will be drunk enough to think they are good. Then, to clear everyone out quickly, comes Nattens Madrigal at full blast with the treble knob all the way up and the bass knob all the way down...many may join me after said finale....
finally after the drunks are cleaned up, the graveside service will be Emperor's Night of the Graveless Souls and Desecration of the dead by Nefelheim

I am not a religious person, so i would ask for no funeral, instead, i would ask that everyone i know listen to four songs through headphones:

42147 - Nevermore
Orion - Metallica
Floods - Pantera
Cynic - Cynic

Two songs come to mind - 'Alone' from Anathema's 'Enigma' album, and 'The Sorrowed Man' by Nevermore ( 'In memory' E.P.). Both are nicely 'otherworldly', and the second song tinged with hope for a better world!

kem, what fine taste you have! buckley is one of my very fave artists. :)

i can see them playing dream brother or last goodbye at my funeral. things behind the sun by nick drake or desolation row by bob dylan would be equally apt :)
