Gaming Thread

I remember seeing Pentium 133 PCs for that.

Ha! In 1995 I got an IBM Aptiva. It came with a Pentium 166MHz CPU with MMX technology, when MMX was the hot new thing. It had a 4x CD-ROM, Windows 95, 8MB RAM (but remember, you'll never need more than 640k RAM) and an awesome 13" monitor (maybe it was 15"...). This hunk of shit went for $3,000 for the whole package, which also included a printer.

Ahhhh, memories.

I need to get a new graphics card, my computer has trouble running mass effect at the resolution that fits my monitor the best, so i have to make due with 960x600 unless i want a horribly distorted image. i have nvidia geforce either 8400 or 8600, i cant remember. most likely 8400. If i trusted myself with anything i'd get a newer one and put it in, but i'd probably end up fucking up and causing my computer to collapse in on itself, forming a singularity, dooming the world.

Damn! $200+ for a eVGA GPU? I'd suggest one of my cards but NewEgg doesn't seem to carry it. It's a ASUS 9800GT Matrix and the reason why I suggest it is because of the fan throttling it utilizes not to mention the specialized software developed for it, dubbed iTracker. I dig iTracker because it's simple for on-demand OC and fan control, with pre-made OC settings.

yeah mines pretty much the same set-up.

except yours is better...but mine was only $850 for almost as nice a setup. minus the OS's because i get that for free from school.

whats your other specs? im using a step down from this one but the one i have can play mass effect on full, so this one should have no problem, just make sure your power supply has the auxillary connector and the proper wattage.

EDIT: probably help if I linked...

Well, i had the whole list of specs when i bought the computer (ebay lol), but of course i lost that. So, what i can gather from D:rofl:iag:

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 1022MB RAM
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
and I have a nice 22" lcd widescreen monitor

So yeah, I should get a new vidcard. the one you have looks dandy.

Upgrading my ram from 4 gigs to 8 gigs made it way fucking better too you just have to get the right kind, i would upgrade too 4 gigs (I have DDR3 but i dunno if your MOBO would support DDR3) and get that video card (just don't do what i did and buy it then realize my power supply was inefficient and lacked the proper connector).

lol upgrading for Old Republic? i changed my mind i'll prob be sith.
