geek = metal head...

I recently discovered, or should I say admitted to myself, that I really enjoy studying. I mean the whole procedure - a quiet library, wooden chairs, soft light, colorful pens, the smell of freshly stamped books... Well, maybe I should consider going out more often :/

To elaborate on my geekiness;
I play games, and lots of them. And not just recent games and mainstream stuff; I'm a NES/SNES enthusiast and I play a lot of obscure japanese games that have never been officially translated to english (fan translations for the win)
I often play games by means of emulation, and I've been a moderator at an emulation forum for a few years. Also, I'm a romhacker.

I know HTML, limited JavaScript and PHP and other webdesign-related dealies. I'm decent with Flash and Photoshop. I like programming and I know some C++ and C#.

I'm interested in literature, science fiction and fantasy in particular. I'm an avid reader of science magazines and I constantly speculate on the nature of things from a scientific viewpoint just for the heck of it... Just generally really interested in science.

I watch animé and read manga. I'm not sure if I watch enough movies to be considered a movie geek, but I watch a lot of movies.

I have no social life, virgin, etc. I have two friends, all we ever do together is play games on LAN.

And in addition, I listen to ridiculously obscure music of almost all genres, many of which regular people have never even heard of.

The metalheads that i've come to known usualy fit the geek category. You can find them most of the time hanging around in a group playing card games (Yugi-Oh or some other shit). Despite this, stating that a metal-head is always a geek is hardly the truth, I for one don't fit that category at all.

UR DOING IT RONG lolz.

I don't think that metalhead = geek.

I go out and have fun, I socialise with friends, I wear makeup and I don't know shit about WoW.
On the other hand, I work at Game and I'm also constantly on FPS games when I'm not out.

Naw, you're just not a full blown geek, that's all.

im not sure about cherko winning.

i have (and still do) play Warhammer 40k, i used to play magic and be into anime, but i gave that up in favor of painting minis. i spend most of the time that im not painting or playing reading, surfing forums, listening to metal or some combination therein.

also, i am just about 3 years ahead of most of the rest of my graduating class in math and science (im taking math and science at the local university and doing better than most of my friends that are actually college age).

so i win? if not im kool :p

Heh, I guess I list some geekiness I've done too then. :p

- I've played Warhammer and Warhammer 40k (aswell as lots of other GW games like Mordheim, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, etc.) since the 90's. I've got around 20-30k points of Fantasy and quite alot of 40k aswell. Had my own table with lots of homemade terrain, etc. before I moved.

- I've seen ~200 animes in all genres, from school-life romance to bloody samurai series, etc. I also have a fair collection of both anime dvds and manga books.

- I collect NES-games, I't isn't my prio one thing when it comes to money but I've got games like Final Fantasy, Mega Man 5, Duck Tales 2, etc. complete.

- I collect comic books. Mostly stuff like Tintin, Spirou, Lucky Luke.

- I've played LOTS of pen and paper RPGs, mostly Swedish games though.

- I collect model trains and have quite a large collection in my opinion. I also build my own model trains in both plastic and brass. Soldering and painting myself. :)

- I've played MtG since Tempest was released and have lots of cards like an all-foil madness deck. I've also played in nationals a couple of times.

- I was a big roller coaster geek a few years back, I also played Roller Coaster Tycoon on competetive level and finished in good places in some tourneys on the internet.

- Slackware Linux and OpenBSD are my favorite operations systems.

- My music collection is approaching 900 items.

- I played WoW pretty competetive and reached the end of AQ40 as a Warlock class leader.

- I'm a big Tolkien geek and have read pretty much every book about his world that has been released. When I went to school there was a Tolkien group there who always wanted me to join because I knew more about his works than pretty much every member of said group. x)

I can think of lots more stuff, I've tested lots of board, TCC, battle top games etc. but I can't remember everything. :p

On the other hand I really like beer, I party alot, don't look too geeky and am not a virgin so in that way I'm not a classic geek. :>

Edit: looking at the list I'm definitely a collection geek. I'm materialistic as fuck and LOVE to collect lots of different stuff.
