Note tho, this might kill things like Spybar... I mean Googlebar and the like, but if you are using IE and some plugin crap, well, you can only blame yourself.

ahahahahaa. i just had to go around and uninstall that from 4 PC's in the main office... i don't know whether to fall over laughing or cry.. that's what happens when you give mooks power user rights...

:tickled:

I know, it's a sad sad world when people at offices are given more than
user rights. Tho I would never work anywhere unless I had at least Power
User rights, but thats only cos I know my stuff and I am too stuck in my
ways to settle for using crap like IE as browser.

That said, I do have to use it at work since all our work stuff is coded with
IE in mind and I don't have the energy to try and fight a multi-national
company's web development team about standards and whatnot.

Tough times these are for us nerds.

Indeed they are, if i had my way i'd revoke all their power user status, but unfortunately our ERP and CRM software spazzes out on anything less that power user level.. (really clever programming i thought that was...) still, not my doing, and i don't get a say. Ditto the energy comment.. Still, when it comes down to it, i have admin rights to the whole domain, across about 8 countries, so if i get bored i can have some fun ;)

*thinks about changes all user descriptions to 'slappy mcfuckstick'*

ah... what a world.

Well, the problem is that especially hotmail seemingly is easier to break into and via the email control my beloved soccer team. But it seems like it's only hotmail that sucks, so I guess a yahoo mail account will do for the soccer team. :) Thanks.

There is a DOS emulator on the same page, it's called DOSbox.
I haven't tested this yet, but as soon as I do I will let you know.

@CoT
Never use Hotmail for actual email, since MS bought them I have only
used it for MSN Messenger. There was also a huge privacy issue about
Hotmail a while back, kinda like the one that is now for the Google Gmail
(=we keep your email even if you delete them, then we go thru them
and send ads to you based on what we find and of course this is done by
machines, so it's VERY VERY trustworthy... yes, just sign right here on the
dotted line... with your bloody, thank you, have a nice day.).

Oh yeah and just incase someone didn't get my point, don't trust anything
MS or Google do and for the love of all thats holy, don't ever accept cookies
from either, no matter what.

what is a good firewall program I could use to manage all the information being transmitted from my computer to somewhere else? I've seen some suspect behaviour and I'd like to control that, just to be sure :erk: never thought I'd eed this with a 56k
Suspicious behaviour?...
..I think I know what it is, man.

Child of Time, quit trying to hack into Thanatos' computer for Mexican porn! >(

do you know the program "open webmail"? I don´t know the main homepage, because I have an account there based on this program being added to a server. So it is looking like this: www.servername.com/openwebmail

If you know it, what do you think about its security?

ZoneAlarm has turned to crap, it used to be an ok, but now it's just huge
bloat. I love simple tools, something like @Guard, back when it wasn't
owned by Symantec who made it bloatware as well, the fuckers.

Right now, I use nothing, as I am more secure by blocking the potential
holes right in the OS side. There is tools to see what kind of traffic is going
on in your comp too, but as I could care less I don't know much of these.

What I suggest you do is the following, Run your anti-virus program, followed
by a sweep with Ad-Aware and Spybot, if they find nothing then I got nothing.
Usually suspicious traffic is caused by spyware and just running one of those
programs is not a solution, as they use different methods and find different
things. It's fairly safe bet to remove everything those 2 programs find, I have
yet to run into any problems with either and I been using both for about a year
now. Also in Spybot you have an Immunize option, use it to block further crap.

Note tho, this might kill things like Spybar... I mean Googlebar and the like, but

I of course suggest changing to a different browser as well, using IE is like asking
for trouble. I have everything else blocked in IE except Windows Update, nothing
else goes thru and IE is only used for WU.
thanks, I'll try your method first and then I'll use zonealarm if I continue to see such unusual behaviour (way too much outgoing data) :)

Someone actually found a use for Salamy's paranoia

Hmm, what is the program called? Neomail?
I did find this site, which might or might not be related, but if
it is, I would have to think it's fairly safe, being an open source
project.

Of course I use Mozilla Thunderbird for all my mail needs, but
basicly as long as you stay away from MS products (any Outlook
version and Eudora) you should be safe, as long as it doesn't
use the MS HTML engine (which is the cause for most IE and OE
bug/holes in the first place).

I don't understand what you're so scared of anyway? If you're talking about security on the client side, any good antivirus-program (considering you are using windows) would handle that bit. And concerning the "getting hacked" bit, if it's a public accessable webmail, it doesn't really matter what provider you're using, does it? it's just a password thing.

Uh, too late to get into that now, maybe someday I have the energy to
explain that.

@DiM
Now, to more important things, WHAT THE FUCK is that CRAP in your
signature? That is fucking disgusting... and I am not gonna even touch
the fact that it's a damn animated .gif.
