Could not find a dedicated thread for this band. I just played the band's first four releases. Quality stuff for those of you that despise the blastbeat. Surprised they aren't mentioned along with the other Norwegian elite.

It takes a while to understand where these guys are coming from and where they are taking you.

Recommended.

i dont have that one or Murder. ive read that one should not go beyond Adimiron Black

HenrikMain has been VERY vocal about Gehenna. They were also in the top 10 list in that Norwegian BM top 100 site. Markgugs is ga-ga over their debut. But you're right....no dedicated thread which is odd.

ah, henrik's constant name dropping of the band got me to check them out. so far, the best IMO is the debut, but there's something special about Second Spell. I do like the blackened death approach of Adimiron Black as well.

I have Malice (The 3rd Spell) and Admiron Black, which is where they started to bring in the death metal influences. I always thought they deserved more praise than bands like Ancient for that "melodic" black metal approach, overall fairly quality first three releases.

it's really not. it's in the emperor camp with a more romantic, but no less mystic vibe

I used to love these guys. I still own the first 3 albums. I listened to Malice a couple of months ago and, with the exception of a couple of tracks, it no longer held my attention. The first two are much stronger IMO, but even those don't hold the magic they did for me when they were released.
