Still Life is at the mountain top, Opeth's best album, without doubt! Ghost Reveries is around the treetops - not bad at all, but not that great as Still Life!

Their top two albums are Still Life and My Arms, Your Hearse. Other people may have personal favorites, *but that is purely subjective.* Nothing else they have done approaches these two albums musically, lyrically or thematically.

I would probably place Ghost Reveries around the middle somewhere. I think it's better than Orchid and Morningrise, but not better than Blackwater Park or Damnation or Deliverance. (So, I would rank it 6th out of 8).

It's still a great album, and I regularly listen to it.

*just like your opinion.

I picked Still Life because it pwns all N00bs. Ghost Reveries might get a frag every now and then, but Still Life is still at the top with the 10:0 kill ratio!!!
Lol, Still Life has wallhacks.

Maybe it's the addition of Per ???
Maybe it's the fact that I enjoy Mikael's cleaner vocals ???
Maybe it's the improved control & timing of the growl on the album ???
Maybe it's the tasteful solo's ???

IMO Ghost Reveries is my favorite album as a whole !!! From start to finish it sounds incredible !!!

Still Life has moments of genius & has some great guitar work, but it's not as tight as a whole.

Simply different but both great.
GR is much more grown up and prejudice free.
SL is SL, it's been made already.
Would you like Opeth to use the same formula and become a stagnant band?
I don't think anyone said anything like that at all. Of course i don't want Opeth to stay still - i love Ghost Reveries, but it is the worse of the two records.

Thank you. Thats exactly what I was saying.

That's why this kind of topic is absolutely useless.
What's the point of saying that black is better than white or vice-versa? It seems to me that if one says that SL is better than GR it's because probably he would like Opeth to keep the same sonority. Maybe it's not your case, but that's probably how many of you fellow Opeth addicted think.
I also have my opinion about this but I think it's worthless to share it because
each one of us have a different way of feeling Opeth music and will not change it.

In the end what really matters is that OPETH RULES!!!:worship:

Well, I have to say I'm not the biggest Still Life fan. In fact, I see it like this:

Morningrise < Still Life < All other Opeth records.

It's just my opinion, but I don't seem to get the same things from SL that other people do. I can't see how people perceive it as more emotional than BP. I just don't see that. Morningrise aside, it is my least listened to Opeth record, by a LONG shot!

Ghost Reveries is a grower. I have become very fond of it.
