GMD Poll: Top Ten Albums of 1991

Mental Funeral is without a doubt Autopsy's second best album, and depending on my mood sometimes I think its their best.

Acts and Shit are far inferior. Fuck, their new albums are better than Shitfun. Cassette is the only person I've ever actually seen praise that album.

For me it goes Acts of the Unspeakable > Shitfun > Severed Survival > Mental Funeral.

there's some doom sprinkled throughout most of their albums. Not just Mental Funeral.

True, but Mental Funeral is when they really let their Trouble influences shine.

I will always be a one-man army for those albums.

I love the mentally deranged combination of grindcore, doom metal, death metal and punk going on with Shitfun.
Really no surprise I like it so much when I probably love Abscess even more than Autopsy.

Acts kinda sucks man. That's stupid. The only thing (maybe) better than Mental Funeral is Severed Survival and even then that just depends on mood.

BTW dude, anyone want to buy my Autopsy box set?

lol @ anyone that would consider a cover track to be a make it or break it when it comes to ranking/rating albums.

Especially considering it's at the end of the album.

Categorically, I don't ignore any official tracks when I evaluate albums. It's an official track that they put on the official album. Not a bonus track or anything. That cover significantly weakens the album and Coroner deserve blame for the mistake of tacking it on the end.

but its "officially" not one of their songs. Cover tracks are basically extras. Maye you shouldn't have put Killing Is My Business at the #2 spot in that one thread if covers/extras are so important to you.

It's officially part of the album. Are we not gonna count "All Along the Watch Tower" as part of Electric Ladyland?

I actually really like that cover KIMB :zipit:

To be fair, if a cover track is a significant part of an album's duration and you suddenly delete it, you could easily be left with much less of an album after doing so. Which is exactly why the first two Megadeth albums suffer so badly from their covers, which aren't the absolutely worst things in the world, but basically exist to pad the albums past EP duration.

Delete the Beatles cover and you've got a reasonably long 7 song album, but one of those songs is also a bit weaker than the rest, so the cover still hurts the overall evaluation.

i actually dont mind that cover either. But i would never let it effect my overall thoughts/rating of the album.... since you know, its not one of their songs and is just basically an extra.

Obviously, we disagree on how covers should be accounted for when listening to and evaluating an album. It's also obvious that we are clear on each other's position. Since either method is valid, let's not run around in circles repeating the same point with new words, as if we're gonna change each other's minds.
