Well it's not a printing error if labels write 1996 on an album released in Jan '97. It means 1996 is the year the copyrights were registered at the time of printing. Discogs just loves to see a year on a release and present it as the release date.It might make sense just to go by the earliest date. If some CD are marked 1997 it could always just be a printing error or a re-issue.
