Gave the Malokarpatan a listen today and while it certainly wouldn't be my #1, it is a very cool album. Nice to see someone keeping the Central European black metal sound alive. Still want to check out the Wampyrinacht, Tomb Mold, and to a lesser degree the Power Trip.

Tomb Mold seems to be a massive hit which is unexpected and cool. What I've heard from the album didn't quite latch onto my brain like the demo did (fucking love that The Moulting demo) but it's damn good stuff.

i imagine some of the other BM on my list would interest you, specifically wolfnacht and circle of dawn (maybe fin too if you like sacramentum, i forget).

@Master_Yoda77 actually in hindsight man I'm kinda surprised you weren't all over Ice War's debut.

In retrospect it’s not the first album from my list i’d recommend. Any Warbringer album is solid, but i might start with a different album to “get” them first if you haven’t yet. It was a busy year and I didn’t listen to as much metal as in the past, and from what I did hear not much stood out thrash wise, but they’re one of my favorite modern thrash bands. It was impressive considering they replaced half the band. Think how Megadeth replaces members and then releases an album that is solid and new and Megadeth, but it’s not exactly rust in peace. I think that analogy works.

2017 was kind of a meh year as far as metal to me. Ne Obliviscaris was probably the best if i rated again today, but that’s still 2nd to their Portal of I. And of course Slowly We Rot > Obituary. So there wasn’t much of a true #1 for me in metal last year.
