Well thank God you came to your senses my NY brotha! Russ smokes most (in my opinion).

I see the new york pop culture has penetrated you as well :tickled:

I was once told I was "too ghetto for metal" :)

Twilight in Olympus was my first and its still possibly my favourite. Smoke and Mirrors + Church of Machine open the album so rediculously brilliantly. and Orion is just so damn GROOVY. then i got DWOT. this album slays anything ever. the passion and songwriting seriously sets a new standard. whenever i hear it i spend the whole day with Pharaoh in my head :) the others have failed to hook me like these 2 did, although i do love them all. V is probably my least favourite.

Actually, The Odyssey is my least favorite. Self-titled comes in before it.

At some point, I hope to have reviews done on all of the albums, and when I do, I'll post them here for comment. None got lower than a 3 out of 5 stars, so even where I'm critical, I hope nobody will want to kill me. ;)

i suppose i just prefer the albums that "get to the point" a bit quicker..im still a big dumb newb in the world of prog but im warming to it quickly...im sure 1 day V will be my favourite :p :Spin:

im trying to listen to it all the way through but i get bored. i dont like it as much as dwot and tio.

exactly the same as me. on DWOT and TIO everything has my completely gripped the whole time (especially the vocals)

the s/t album and v dont keep me gripped. (the s/t album because tyler's annoying voice) v is good but i still get bored after a while. all the other albums keep me focused the whole time.

I remember I actually did get bored when I was still getting used to V...but now that I'm more familiar with it, I find myself anticipating all of my favorite passages and wanting to hear it all the way through. The only trouble is setting aside enough time so I can get a good, quality listen in before I get tired from all the day's other activities.

@Rose Immortal- thats how I got into Dream Theater so much Hah! But SFAM was pretty damn gripping to me and it has remained my favorite album of all time.

Here are some great gripping albums (to me at least)
Dream Theater- Images and Words (Amazing)
Pain Of Salvation- 12:5 (Try singing this live, everybody!)
Kamelot- The Black Halo (Amazing)
Queensryche- Operation:Mindcrime
Spock's Beard- Octane
Sonata Arctica- Silence

mine are:

Tool - Lateralus (the most powerful and emotionally stretching album ever written)
SyX - DWoT + TiO
Pink Floyd - The Wall + Division Bell
Lamb of God - New American Gospel

there are others but those especially rock my socks off
