I don't Even Know what half The terms man...
Facetime, 3g wtf?

Hast du etwa deine tägliche Apple Propaganda nicht angehört? :heh:
Im Ernst, die Einführungsvideos sind gar nicht so dumm um die grundlegenden Funktionen kennen zu lernen.

3g is the third generation of mobile radio standard, for example UMTS. Basically it's just faster mobile internet. "Edge" (the small "E" in the upper left of the iPhone) belongs to the second generation and is a lot slower, though nearly nationwide available, while UMTS/ (small "3G" in the upper left) is available in cities and towns. There's GPRS, too (small dot in the upper left) but that's rare and SUPERSLOW.
There's also HSDPA (faster than UMTS) and HSUPA (even faster, up to 7,2Mbit) but mostly in larger cities.

Facetime is inteded to be used only through a WIFI connection, but apparently it works with 3g (mobile internet) too.

imo, the only reason for jailbreaking is that there are some decent apps that will allow you to quickly respond to texts without having to open the message app. But aside from that...meh.

I love my iPhone 4, though now that I've had it for awhile, I realize that I wish it had a bigger screen, and that the increased width wouldn't bother me from a pocket real-estate perspective (since it's so thin). Still glad I got it though! And +1 to being WAY faster with the onscreen keyboard than physical buttons

Lockscreen is the screen you see when your iPhone is locked :D (After the screen turned off automatically or after you locked it by pressing the button on the upper right)

The normal lockscreen (not mine obviously)

I want an iPhone 4 as well... At least, I would want one, but I've read about too many hardware and software failures it may have.

It's not a single problem, but a shitload of different ones that are just plain stupid. The kind I could understand if the phone would be the cheapest around and costs 2 dollars to make. But that's obviously not what this phone is.

Camera inexplicably stops working after few weeks of use, worrying sound quality problems in the microphone/speaker, noticeable gaps between the glass surface and the metal outer band on the phone, problems with the proximity sensor when using the phone which can't be fixed by updating software (this obviously means there's a difference in the quality of the hardware used)

And all of these cases, there have been way more than one...

I think it's worrying. I don't want to get my new iPhone and notice I need to immediately return it and receive a factory repair. I don't want to use it for a few weeks and then return it because of a shitty problem like these. I do understand that the vast majority of people purchased the iPhone 4 don't have problems (yet) but I don't think a cellphone of this level and supposed quality should have such silly problems. It's Apple, for fuck's sake! They've always known how to put together electronics before...

4 user here. I love it. Been thinking about jailbreaking but idk, i remember reading somewhere that the slightest thing could brick it and make it unusable.

you can't brick it by jailbreaking. if it messes up you just do a restore and your phone is fine

Maybe it was the iPad then? I cant remember which one it was i just remember thinking about doing it and reading that it was possible and never reading about it again.

For all my complaints about Apple and Macs, they have excellent customer support. And honestly, most of their products work really well. I've had an iPod nano for like 3 years and it still works near-perfectly (buttons are a little hard to press ever since I took it skiing and got it soaked >.>). I only replaced it because I wanted more space. My sister had an iPod nano which broke. So they replaced it and it broke again. This happened 7 (SEVEN) times. On the one hand, you could ask why the hell seven iPods in a row manage to break. On the other hand, they replaced them all for free and she now has a perfectly working one (newer generation too).

My iTouch is pretty damn good too (surprisingly useful for minor things like checking a bus timetable while you're out), however I wouldn't want an iPhone for the simple reason that I'd run out of battery! I usually watch movies/TV for my 3ish hours a day to and from uni.

And yes, the Retina display is amazing. It's like going to a phone store and seeing all the phone displays simply printed on.. except it moves. It's kinda weird.

For those of you who find an iPhone screen FASTER to type on.. what are your typing speeds on a computer? I'm like 100 wpm on a computer and I'd estimate like 20 wpm on an iPod ><

Yeah, I haven't actually had any problems with any Apple products myself, and I do know that their customer support is great... It's just that you'll need to wait like a month for your iPhone to come (iPhone 32GB)... I'm not sure if you'll need to wait another if you have to replace one, but that would really suck ass.

Haha, yeah, I see how that could be confusing - to clarify, when I say I'm faster typing on a touchscreen as opposed to a physical keyboard, I mean on a cell phone (e.g. Blackberry or some slider phone), of course I'm way faster on a computer (~100 wpm here also)
