guitar gear

personally if i didn't already have my killer power amp, i'd go for that tiny crate power amp

http://crateamps.com/html/series.cfm?sid=15

with a vamp pro as the driving force behind it(which will also enable you to have a potent recording rig), using a behringer FCB1010 to control it. you should hear some of the brutal tones i get out of my vamp pro based live rig. then run that 150w power amp into a 4x12 cab and your set. its the perfect solution for someone running an amp modeler. run the vamp without cab sim on, and you will get a much more authentic tone, because of the cab you use...

can get a vamp pro for 170 new(cheaper on ebay) though i'm sure it depends what country you live in, can get the fcb1010 floorboard for 130 on ebay or a little more elsewhere(got mine for 130 brand new in box on ebay), and i don't know how much that crate power amp is lol...

i heard good things about that crate. maybe i'll get that and a lil used half stack or cab. then probaly save up for somethin better later.

i couldn't imagine something better than what i have, unless behringer releases a rack mounted vamp with no dropout during amp sim changes, then that would be the ultimate.

so are you runnin the crate?? cuz i heard some of your shit and you have a nice sound not that i want to steal it but it is nice :)
no, i run an old fender 300w solid state power amp(135w@8ohm), but i don't use my power amp when i record, i only use the digital out on the vamp, so thats what you hear in my recordings, all vamp.

have you used it? it looks pretty good

i doubt a boutiquish company liek Hughes and Kettner would retail for even AROUND $600, but i could be wrong.

http://www.peavey.com/products/brow.../68/begin/1/Triple+XXX®+Super+40+EFX.cfm. I was thinking of getting this for myself? seems like a good amp, and musiciansfriend.com has it at a killer cheap price, $500 down from the list price.

What u ppl think?

I found a website that was selling it for about $600 (a little over)

This is a good amp aswell http://ampeg.com/products.htm?product=75&catid=20

and this http://www.laney.co.uk/show_prod.php?title=TFX3 Twin

and this http://www.laney.co.uk/show_prod.php?title=TF300-II

it would be a better choice i think in the long run to just go with somethin like that crate power amp and a half stack for now. then save up and get a vamp or somethin

pffft, Line 6 pussies. I'm running a POD through a VHT 2/50/2, and it sounds killer. i get so many tones, it's disgusting.

too bad line 6's cab sim sounds like its coming out of someones asshole.

AHA... thats why i don't use cab sims, i use a Real cab, in particular a marshall 1960 with Vintage 30's... BOIYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

i use cab sim when i record, i don't want to mic my cab... when i play live i use a real cab, and the vamp still owns the xt live my buddy has :Spin:

My friend just got an XT, he loves it, and the metal pack has thus far kicked his ass.

dood, if you have a POD, not an XT, check out this page

http://users.panafonet.gr/mtsag/pod.html that's where i got most of my tones, then i made a few other's. I got a perfect copy of Andy LaRocque's lead tones for King Diamond, In particular Abigail. And Dream Evil too. a decent steve via tone, and a generic Satch tone. but the tone i like the bast is this marshall mod. it's great.
