Yes people are.
Yes it does make sense.
And it tightens up the sound, doesn't really add more gain.

Ok I have to test.
Is OD808 a common one?
Or what shall I look for?

I'll try to explain ;) The Overdrive isn't really adding distortion but it sucks some bass and highs (or boost the mids) and compress the sound abit! Less bass make it tighter less highs make it smoother! + You have more output and need less gain on the amp! The tubescreamer adds a little bit clipping but just above 600Hz or something like this..that helps for a tight bass too I guess....

but yeah in the end it simply seems to sound cool to many people on this board :)

It's not a distortion pedal, it's a boost pedal. Doesn't really add gain, just gives you a different sound, which I happen to like better. The 5150 has more than enough gain for any kind of metal, but I just love how it sounds with a boost pedal. If you look at my settings, I had the gain really low on the amp, and wasn't using the high gain input either.

Ok I have to test boost pedal!
But the OD808 is not very cheap..
I will do the bias mod in a few weeks.

Then I have G12-65 in my Marshall cab, maybe I have to test a cab with V-30.
Does v30 sound good for real metal? I thought G12-65 was more metal?

I know verry well that V30 is verry common, but I have never like them, byt maybe the are good for recording?

B.t.w. Is Studio Fredman well known around the world??
I live in the same town that he does.

V30's are amazing for metal. That's mainly all that Fredrik Nordstrom and Andy Sneap use. They cut really well in a mix, and they seem to record better than any speaker I've ever tried, and many people also agree with that. Nordstrom is a God in my eyes, I would give anything to be able to record at Studio Fredman. Basically every one of my dream tones...he recorded.

Yes they are, but the pics is from Studio Fredman, and I think the setting on the 5150 are used on some records as well.
maybe they use the low input? It have tha half of gain compared to the high input.

Someone on here actually recorded there, I think he said it was around $600 a day or something?

When we recorded our first album there in 1999, it was around $1200 á day (9000 SEK). I think it's been cheaper every year since then though, because the labels don't wanna pay that kind of money anymore.

The pics are from the Swedish band HellFueled's recording at studio Fredman.
