I always thought true metal was power metal, and that false metal was the glam and hair bands of the 80s. No?

Apparently, not, I was told today that black metal is tr00, I think they usurped the power metallers when no one was looking. They are a crafty lot those black metallers...

I like commercial black metal, like Cradle of Filth, and I like peaceful black metal, which seem to be only specific songs.

Like:

Judas Iscariot - An Eternal Kingdom of Fire
Burzum - Det Som En Gang Var
Burzum - Tomhet

But how can black metal be tr00 when so many metal fans don't like it? Power/traditional metal was around before black metal, so it's therefore tr00er than black metal is.

Can someone explain Black Metal to me? Cos I have never understood its appeal...

Melodic death is the way to go!! I don't like 90% of black, death and thrash because most of the songs sound the same. If there's something approaching a melody, though, then that's just super.

I love melodic Death. It seems that BM is the only genre I have been unable to grasp. Hell, I even understand PROG!
