heavy metal bands w/ clean vox?

you can try some chick singer bands if u want, like lacuna coil or chalice, but im really into power vox bands. Terria by devin townsend is ok, but theres a few death vox on it somewhere, but only for a few seconds

He's a tenor, but that's not the same thing as "power metal vox." Power metal vocalists tend to have a thinner, less robust sound and heavily use their falsetto ranges. Dickinson doesn't use falsetto at ALL.

i think though, that iron maiden can be classified as nothing but power metal, and power metal bands DO tend to have power vocalists.

i havent heard much of BD's solo stuff, but what i have heard smacks of power

by the way, how can you say that iced earth's vocalist has a "thin robust" sound??? barlow has one of the strongest voices i have ever heard!!!

hevydevy baby....try ocean machine if youre looking for a break from traditional metal and want something truly exceptional. it's not brutal, its beautiful, its haunting...its amazing ! here's a quick review:

"The man that can do everything (jack of all trades), has made this album more emotionally sensitive, touching and slower without compromising his trademark heavy riffs, heavy synthesizer cascades, and varied vocals... Ocean Machine combines pleasant melodies with spacy sounds that work together despite their experimental character, and never sound too overloaded or bulky. A modern metal-album with atmosphere."
- Rock Hard (Germany; trans. Paul Garton)

"'Biomech' is, in a word, beautiful. A melodic, haunting album dealing with all of humanity’s failings: loneliness, death, despair, love and even life itself... Everything Devin touches seems to turn to gold. This is the album of the year. This is awe-inspiring. This is why God created music. This is Ocean Machine."
- Brett Peebles, Lot's Wife (Monash University, Australia)

Iron Maiden, power metal? AHAHAHAHAHA! Maiden are just plain old fashioned heavy metal. None of the neoclassical elements, falsetto vocals or general gayness of power metal, and Dickinson's solo work is even farther from power metal.

ah fuck I just remembered no ag no check stuff out anyway...

but yeah, im looking for something diff then the death and prog metal I normally listen to...something heavy but with clean vox

no neoclassical elements, hmm?

Not really, not in the overt and constant fashion utilized by power metal. Every Maiden song pretty much consists of variations on galloping rhythms a chord progression of E-C-D. Power metal fused Yngwie influenced lead work and neoclassical elements with speed metal structures.

Maiden w/o a doubt paved the way for power metal, the galloping rythms, the lyrical content, the tri guitar melodies.

Yngwie just influenced the neo classical portion of it, theres more to power metal than just some guy shreddin E and A phyrigian, while ripping diatonic minor key arps.

try andromeda, more prog the metal but they are damn good.

others: evergrey, pain of salvation, lacuna coil, iced earth

if you want some classic stuff, check out Steel Dragon songs from the movie 'Rockstar'
