Here it is! Practice your mixing skills!

Exzem, thanks for enjoying my song!
The clicks and pops are due the several copy&paste. I didn't play all the song in one take.
The only thing wrong I noticed was the bass, it enters along with the drums at 00:05
Oh sorry, I forgot to upload the solos.

Hmm, yeah the bass sounds weird I just assumed everything was aligned correctly when importing the files.

Try crossfading between the different takes to get rid of the pops.

Nice drums sounds Skeksis!!
Good job in the mix!!

Thanks :)

the kick was a blend of one of my own samples with the RRkick that someone posted here, heavy compression with ~70ms attack, some crazy roller coaster eq, clipped to fuckery with gclip, then a bit of final touches with eq

snare was a pearl FF that someone posted here as well, lots of multiple eq, compression and clipping stages, with freeverb shoved on the end.

the toms suck ass, i cannot do toms to save my life.

All the drums were parallel compressed (with the compressed track slightly phase shifted with phasebug, it just sounded better that way), and have a bit of verb on them collectively.

I did some nickelback style delay on the guitars (the delay from the right is on the left and vice versa), it seemed to fatten them up a bit as they were very dry sounding

Wow COBHC, I'm glad you've enjoyed the previous guitar files. They are GuitarRig2 files.
The new ones were recorded in a real Laney.
Combining the 2 will be interesting!

Heavy Metal song such as Hammerfall, Accept, Mercyful Fate etc...
All .wav files are named
Tempo:164,8

Hey everyone.. I don't know if this thread is still alive. I know it's been so long since people were here, but I was looking for a song to practice mixing with my new Presonus 16.4.2 .. I just loaded all the tracks into capture (a simple record program that came with it) and mixed it with the mixing desk. I used compression and some eq. The only effects I added was reverb on the effects bus, I added it to drums and a little bit on guitar and more on solo's. I didn't end up using the ride cymbal and the china tracks. I wanted to keep everything as simple as possible. It sounds alright for a first try.. If anyone's here tell me what you think.. There might be too much low end, not sure with these headphones I'm using for reference..
