For the forum:Where is everyone? I'm drunk and I want to talk about Opeth! yeah, yeah...my altercation with NFU was hot gossip, i'm sure. But hey, shit happens, you know? I hate ozzfest, he thinks it's cool if Opeth was on it. Agree to disagree, all that jazz. anyway, to make this Opeth related - say you saw Mike sitting in a chair at the local bookstore, enjoying an intellectually stimulating book. How would you approach him? What would you say?

For Mike and anyone else who has an idea about this:For me, I'd just walk up to him and say, "Mike, you have changed my life", then roll up my right pants leg and BAM! Opeth logo tattoo. What would he say when faced with the idea that I have tattooed the symbol of his life's musical work on my body? I mean, just thinking about that - someone has gone so far as to permanantly alter their body in a way to express the fact that Opeth is as deeply involved in their life as anything else. Amazing. I don't regret my tattoo, but I can't imagine if I were in a band and a fan showed me their tattoo of my band's logo. So, if Mike reads this thread: what do yu think about folks getting the Opeth logo tattooed on their body? Does it freak you out? Make you happy? Do you take it in stride? Maybe you won't read this thread, but basically - what is your reaction to people modifying their body (for life) in the name of Opeth?

Finally, yes, I am drunk. But still, this interests me. Leave me some responses!

well, i think tattooing a band logo would be the ultimate compliment to a band member, obviously. i dont think anyone ever gets tired of seeing that from their fans, and probably are blown away by it every time. Opeth is a wonderful band, who are great to their fans, and quite down to earth...i have much respect for the way they conduct themselves towards those who support and enjoy what they do...and in return they give the fans what they want. you dont see enough of that anymore it seems.

Haha...in spite of what happened recently, I totally agree with you man....Joey, right? Anyway, I've been thinking....if I meet Opeth on their next US tour, should I show them the ink? I mean, if you really think about it, it's borderline psychotic...it's just a band, after all. My leg is permanently adorned with the opeth "O"...would that freak them out, that one would go so far as to cut their skin in order to show their devotion? Quite a deep question, definitely...but Opeth means so much to me (I hardly go a day with out relating SOMETHING to an Opeth song  ). I just really can't imagine what it would be like to see a fan so obsessed like that. Is it creepy? I just don't know.

It is interesting that you say that they give the fans what they want. But that's the ultimate question, isn't it? Shit, Opeth could release a hip-hop album! I'd probably buy it anyway, but really I think of Opeth as having a similar mindset to Tool - as their guitarist Adam Jones said (I'm paraphrasing), the band comes first...the fans' wants are secondary the what the band wants to achieve.

In summation, though, that's what it's all about. I think we both love Opeth, and though we have differences of opinion upon the direction they should go, ultimately, it's up to Mike. Regardless, I'll be buying the new CD...be it extreme black metal or a CD full of emo-core breakdowns. It comes down to what Opeth wants to do...and as they've shown in the past, that's what Opeth is: doing their own thing. And I'll be there....until it starts to suck. ;)

Well if it's any relief to you, seeing fans with Opeth tattoos is nothing new to the guys. That have an entire section of pics devoted to those tatts on the official site. I'm quite sure they'd be flattered, but not flabbergasted :)

I'm not much into tattoos but if you have to get a tattoo the Opeth logo is quite beautiful. Nice show of devotion to their music. Stop posting drunk! hehehe

well, i dont mean they write for the fans. they write for themselves...but it keeps it true, honest and uncompromised...which means for good material...which makes the fans happy. its a cause and effect thing. bands trying to get popular, or get money, or get laid...never last that long...the fans see through it usually...the insincerity of it all.

I'd scream "HEY DORKERFELDT" and then run, and then come back and peek around a bookshelf to see if he acknowledged my presence....

 Just at that moment, he'd see you in the corner of his eye and fling his boomerang porn stache 'atcho ass. akerfeldt would have had you.

It was kind of strange, so I just asked him 'Mike, do you still check the forums much?' with his response being 'yeah.. it's like a drug :)'. Pretty much left it there after asking him for a photo, which he was very cool with.

I found it was the hardest to get a conversation going with him and Peter. With Lopez he's the one making all the conversation haha, really really cool dude.

how did you guys (who have met them) get the chance to do so? did you have passes or what? i want to meet them when they come around but i dunno how this would be possible...
