Thrash is one my favourite sub-genres of Metal. Seeing Metallica at Leeds Festival in 2003 got me into Metal essentially. Well, it got me into pretty much just Metallica at first, I developed a borderline obsession with them for a short while, then I started to check out the bands they are usually directly compared with.
Naturally, this meant the other three of "The Big Four", although I concentrated on Slayer mostly for a short while before getting more into Megadeth and then Anthrax. Whilst I casually liked a few other Metal bands as well, "The Big Four" were my four favourite bands for a fair bit.
After a short while I started checking out more Thrash and other Metal sub-genres and as a result of this my collection of bands I love from allsorts of Metal sub-genres has greatly expanded in the past 3 or 4 years in particular.
As for other Thrash bands, I'd also put Testament, Annihilator and Sepultura among my stronger favourites. Also really like Gama Bomb, Warbringer, Onslaught, Municipal Waste (although they are technically "Post-Thrash" apparently!) Sabbat and Heathen.
There's also a few other Thrash bands that I really like what I've heard so far, but need to check out more by them, such as Destruction, Kreator and Forbidden.
Also in case it interests anyone, there's a couple of unsigned Thrash bands I've had the pleasure of seeing live who I've been well impressed with, Mutant and Redmist Destruction.
In regards to the mentioning of Hip Hop, Rap and such, I have to admit I am kinda surprised by the reactions of some. I don't particularly like that kinda music myself, but I wouldn't say it's totally outlandish to mention it on a forum where the main Music interests of most people will probably be Hard Rock/Metal. More people than some might think like a lot of diverse things.
I can say I know or have known 2 or 3 people who although they mostly like Hard Rock/Metal and go to loadsa gigs of this nature, they also like a bit of Rap/Hip Hop and a bit of pop, both older stuff and more modern.
In fact, in one case someone who I met at a Cannibal Corpse gig who likes a lot of Death Metal, Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal etc who I know without any doubt (because others have vouched for him) went to a Lionel Ritchie concert, still looking Metal with Denim, Band Shirt, Long Hair etc who went willingly and loved it!
Personally, other than Metal, there's probably at least a fair few Pop songs/bands/artists that I get enjoyment from when I hear them every so often but I've never liked anything like that enough to have a desire to listen to a full album of it or anything.
