Hey what are your favourite bands guys?

:lol::lol::lol:

On a more serious note, it's cool how on here someone can actually mention slipknot / numetal without the whole thread being derailed in flaming, and everything is kept pretty light hearted. on another forum i used to frequent, it just got dumb how elitist it all was (even though I don't really like the band/genre)

Back on topic, I'd actually have to say I've rediscovered my love for Manowar this week, and would have to put them up there. Was doing a food shop the other day with the Warriors of the World album in my ipod - turned mundane things like walking down the isle and cereal choice into epic quests!

aw come on guys nu metal isn't that bad. you just have to not think of it as metal.. it's something different. and isn't slipknot black metal? also, i mentioned emo... a genre that i like, but i am NOT going to continue to talk about it sense it's such a controversial subject.

Slipknot is nowhere close to black metal. Definitely not :p

And we're all just having fun. Whether or not I think of it as metal doesn't factor in my opinion of nu metal, I just think it's a pretty bad style of music personally! Same way most people I know think of my tastes in music, haha.

I like that about this forums, I have only seen one truly derogatory comment about a band here in my whole time here. It is good to have intellectual, respectful, and sometime convincing conversations on metal.

Personally I am not a big fan of nu-metal. I was a kid when the craze started. I admit I still listen to Marilyn Manson from time to time. I no longer like Slipknot or Korn. They changed their sound so many times it is ridiculous!

Though I try to avoid sticking to one sub-genre of metal and I try to avoid sticking to one genre of music. There is a ton of great music out there and I try to hear as much of it as humanly possible! There is beauty in almost all music.

i think, that unless the genre of music doesn't take any skill or tallent it isn't a "bad" genre of music... that's all i'm going to say in defense of nu metal. and as far as slipknot being black metal, i have never listened to either slipknot or black metal so i was just going off of something i heard once...

Slipknot is nu metal in their early years, and then more heavy metal in the later years. End of story. :)

1928 and everybody else doesn't have to like the nu metal genre anyway. I'm not in love of that genre but I just love some nu metal bands like Slipknot that make the genre sound very impressive. Korn became more alt-metal than nu metal these days so people tend to like them less now. Including me I guess.

Ever heard of Thrash metal guys, and the big 4? Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax....2 of them are my favourite bands of all time! ;)

Ah ok XD

Do you like the big 4 of thrash metal? I really really love Megadeth and also Metallica...the singer of Megadeth was originally the guitarist for Metallica so yeah it's a natural talent here XD

James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine are godfathers of thrash metal ;)

I think Metallica's Ride the Lightning is a great album but other than that I don't care for anything from those bands

I just never got into them, their sound doesn't appeal to me. Thrash metal has never been my cup of tea anyway. I like melodic stuff with synthesizers and orchestras, or just regular ol' keyboards. Thrash metal doesn't really have that - it's also not heavy enough for me. For real heavy stuff, I'll go to Amon Amarth or Naglfar - death or black metal is much better in my opinion when it comes to heavy stuff.

edit: Also I just seem to have a problem with American metal bands. I can count on one hand the number of metal bands from USA I truly enjoy.

You know, the only thing that I hate about death and black metal is that the vocals are almost always screams/growls and such. If there was just vocals like the ones present in thrash metal, combined with the death/black metal music...that would be awesome I think.

Personally I only like thrash metal because of these 2 bands, megadeth and metallica, but other bands in the genre kinda suck I think.

I often hear those vocals you like in thrash metal referred to as 'rough' vocals. Check out the song When Eden Burns or Twisted Eyes by the band Persuader - I think you'll like them.

I like the screaming/growling when it's in the appropriate genre and used well. Amon Amarth's vocals, Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth... god yes.

ho yea just curious. do you guys also like hip hop? there's a black guy named Ice Cube that I really like.

hey yo guys...what's crackin', you wanna roll? XD just kidding.

Anyay looking for that song that 1928 said. but looks like it is not on yutube man.....can you link it to me mayb? would apprecaite it :)

anyway i like when the vocals are more clear and you can understand what the singer is saying in the lyrics. when they scream/growl you can't understand what they're saying usually...that's really the main reason why I don't like screaming/growling vocals.

I can't find that song that 1928 talked 'bout...anyway guys let's roll with this kewl song

man one thing is certain here...he's not screaming or growling XD
