Dude. Just shut the fuck up. Most people won't care what you said just right there. There is no point in replying to everything they say. except the useful posts obviously, but honestly dude. Just ignore whatever they say, cause there just gonna be an ass about it and reply right back.
But yeah there's too many genres, sub-genres to classify bands in. Usually whatever sounds Fast/Heavy/Loud/Melodic/Aggresive Is what I call metal.
But whatever your into, and if your just starting to get into Metal I recommend these albums for starters (Don't mind the fucking classifications I randomly put that lol):
Metal 101:
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast
Judas Priest - Screaming For Vengeance
Metallica - Master Of Puppets (Like you haven't heard that one before lol)
Slayer - Reign In Blood
Masters Seminar:
Celtic Frost - Morbid Tales
Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness
Sepultura - Beneath The Remains
At The Gates - Slaughter Of The Soul
Emperor - Anthems At The Welkin At Dusk
Death - Scream Bloody Gore
PHD Seminar:
Carcass - Symphonies Of Sickness
Meshuggah - Chaosphere
Enslaved - Mardraum
Mastodon - Leviathan
Melechesh - Sphynx
Obviously there are tons more albums that you could start with, but these would be a good start if you ask me.
Again there are so many genres and sub-genres it's fucking stupid for example: Mathcore...I don't even know what the fuck that is lol. It just sounds so fucking stupid I don't even what to check it out.
Wow thanks that's a lot of albums!!! lmfao.
And yeah, I'm not exactly looking for my "type" of music. I like to think that i'm more of a versatile person who won't just listen to one specific type of music, but to many different genres (oh, wait, i only listen to metal...well then, many different SUB genres hehe). I'm pretty versatile in most things except for food. god am i picky, lol. But back to the original topic.
I actually don't even know why I asked this question in the first place I just felt like seeing how many different people would list sub genres, and how many sub genres would end up being listed altogether.
either way, I was just bored, and, like i said, i remembered that wikipedia had a crapload of information on a lot of different metal subgenres, but each page was incredibly long, and i really don't want to sit there for like, 5 or 6 hours learning about different types of metal, haha. Thanks for the help, though, I may check some of that stuff out.
And i'm not a complete noob when it comes to the amount of time i've been listening to metal. I've been listening to metal since the age of 8 or 9, i think, but arguably it was only two bands: KMFDM, and Dream Theater. I still love those bands, but i've been trying to branch out and try new stuff so I can add to my collection of favorite metal bands.
And sorry, i really overreacted back there, haha. It's just diseases are a touchy subject for me.
