How old can you be and still live with your parents?

haha, $750,000 could buy a HUGE home down here, possibly lakeside property.

my house that I just described was only $152,000. Our monthly payments are under $1300 a month for an FHA loan on a 30-year mortgage with an interest rate of 6.5% (we bought just as rates were rising, bah). That payment will go down once we reach the six-year mark because we will have paid off the mortgage insurance.

Our house is like £100,000 or something, and that's a 3-bedroom semi-detached, 2 floors, one bathroom :(

The cheapest house I've found out here was around $250k, in an area I don't like to drive through during even daylight hours. Then if you want to live in the ghetto, bump up that price to $300k. Small houses in good areas are around $400k and up. Balls.

Ya, I have an escrow as well. I bought my house for 170,000, but it's only a bit over 1,000 sq. feet. I don't need anything big AT ALL, it's just fucking ridiculous the price difference from up here in the NorthEast compared to down there. INSANE.

I would fucking KILL to be able to find a house for $170k!!! I could actually afford a house if those still existed! They did 3 years ago, Riverside's housing values have tripled since then. TRIPLED!!! God damn shit cunting fuck faced Los Angeles and Teh blOw. C. spillover! :bah:

New statistic: LA commuters spend 10 days a year stuck in traffic.

is what kills me though is Homeowner's Association dues. seriously, that is the biggest scam next to insurance. do y'all have HOA dues up there?

Mine is about 200,000 now with the shit we put into it.

What kind of stuff did you do to your house?

I recently got my house appraised, and I was telling this yenta bitch that I was going to paint the living room, lay down some new tar on the driveway, clean up the outside, fix up the front steps....

...she said it wasn't worth it. In the North East (or at least in NY/NJ), the housing is so ridiculous, you can sell a decrepid piece of crap for the same price as a well-to-do house (same size and location).

They are? I never spent much maintaining my old beaters, but I did all the work myself so maybe that's why. Maintenance on a new car is easy, just oil changes and the occasional shit like spark plugs and various fluids. Then again I exclusively drive superior and reliable Japanese vehicles, major car repairs aren't necessary too often.

From what I hear the MOTs, insurance, petrol + wearing the bits that fall off and get knackered comes to a hella lot. I'm not looking forward to it much, even though I want to drive so bad :erk:

an apartment building is being built a few blocks away from where i live.
2 bedroom apartment ... $800K !!!!
