I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

is this a joke are you joking

no... the tires on this particular saab are "special" to some degree and cost a bit more than an average piece of rubber.

still- i made out with a full brand-new set/four-wheel alignment/balance for $650. pretty fair price, IMO. i have all of the service records from when my boss owned it, and he paid $950 to have the same thing done at the dealership. the tires were probably $200 each to start with, but DAMN. i got this car three years after he got those tires and they were worn the fuck out. almost illegal.

dorian ... how did that insurance payment work out btw ... the check?

i got a check sitting here for $520 for repairs ... and wonder if i can apply it to the loan instead as you mentioned prior ...

the scratch on the hood can wait.

speaking of...the wife was *just* reading an email from our lienholder saying the check has been applied.
wooo!

you should be able to apply it your principal but you'll likely have to give them a hard time about it. They really like you to fix the car instead

thanks ...

yeah they like you to fix the car because if you have a large balance still on loan and default its on them to fix later.

i have about 1/5 left on my loan ...

so you contacted the lien holder to get this check applied?

It was made out by State Farm to me, the wife and the lienholder. So, wife went through manager after manager at the lienholder until finally someone said "yes" and we signed the check and sent it to them by certified mail upon which they signed it and applied it to the principal.

So yeah you'll need to call your lienholder and just pressure them until they agree to it

yeah, that's how mine is made out as well.
i'll give it a shot ... gracias!

so you drive a round a golf ball now?

I know, and I actually like the F150 as a truck. But them Raptors are just goofy to me. I think it's the 14' wide FFFFFFFFFOOOOOORRRRRRRDDDDD on the grille. I'm shallow like that with vehicles.

I'm looking forward to the next WRX. It's going to arrive right in time for my Outback to implode

I'm considering trading in the 'speed for a BRZ. Not a lot, but a little. Not that I want to get rid of the 'speed since other than the weird smell on hot days I fuckin' love that thang, but that BRZ looks amazing.

I totally gigged with the wife's sedan/car a few weeks ago, it fit all my shit and both of us with approximately 6 cubic inches left to spare. So I don't really need a wagon, my Tetris skillz are good enough apparently.

If we move to the mountains though, I'm ditching both cars for something AWD and we'll just rideshare from up them thar hillz. I like the Mazda CX-5 for some reason.

hahaha im not even particularly a FORD fan, but i think thats the awesomest truck grill ive seen in a long time

@ Adrian: the BRZ looks great. Two seats though :erk: And only 150 ft-lb? Subie's already turbocharged the motor and it will most likely make its first appearance in the next gen WRX. And then surely they'll put it in an STi version of the BRZ. I'd wait for either one of those to come to market if I were you.

That said, the current BRZ is ace.
