Ive looked into getting a CHL here, just havent done it... and for this particular incident it wouuldnt have done shit anyways... drunk and unawares... however, Im pretty much done drinking from now on.

You'd be surprised how little difference there is between those two types of people though.
Well, considering there are very different types of gun owners out there (which I've noticed simply by interacting with people at my range), I'm not about to generalize.

It's cool man, it's just one of the few topics that I get fired up about easily, hahaha.
Buy a Heckler and Koch and you won't have that problem. Pretty ambidextrous from what I remember.

Once again, however, I have to say that while I hold nothing against the guys on here who choose to own a gun, it's not like you're a dead man walking in the US without one! I don't have a gun, and neither do ANY of my friends (beyond shotguns and hunting rifles among the more backwoods oriented 
) Also, bear in mind that pulling a gun immediately escalates the situation, and if you lose control of it or it jams or something, you are most likely DEAD - sometimes it's better to just give the mugger(s) all your shit, rather than risk making them angrier!

Absolutely dude, that is 100% possible. But, in situations where it's possible to draw your weapon, it can be extremely useful...fired or not.
