I can also recommend to check out my friends at PrOgulus.com.
Its a Prog Rock/Metal Internet Station that has just about every "Sub-
Genre" of Progressive Rock, and I know I just made about 15 more
addicted fans to be :kickass:
LOTS of "Math Metal" and Tech/Prog Metal! . . .
You can always ask the fine "PrOguli" at the Live Chat-Board on the
site about bands, recommendations and so-on. And also see their
Forums. Its a totally FREE site and very hands on Request controls and
an un-godly amount of Prog. And we have a fair share of Math Metal
fans too! Also, 90% of the CD's at PrOgulus are "Donated' by the
listeners so we are a very close-nit group.

EnjOy!

@ MAVIII 10x, Cloudkicker sounds quite nice :)

Pestilence had an album called "Spheres" released in 1993 where they moved towards a more prog & tech death metal (complex time signatures, guitar synth, fretless bass etc...)

Also, Obscura's new album called "Cosmogenesis" (featuring 2 ex-Necrophagist members + the ex-Pestilence bass player from the Spheres album on 6-string fretless bass) is a quite nice album. They play a prog-tech death with some melodic and fusion touches.

Also check out Direwolf's debut album 'Beyond the Lands of Human Existence.

pS: ENDITOL sounds great !

Check out the jazz-fusion band "Counterworld Experience". They've got 2 instrumental albums out now. Both amazing - in a compositional & production sense.

Go to Progulus.com, they have "3" albums by them :D

Updated the PrOgulus list of Math/Tech/Prog Metal on my post, as to my surprise, some of the Bands mentioned here can be found on their Request List!

http://www.progulus.com/rprweb/search3.php

Check it out!

:headbang:

Not sure if any of you has checked out Gonin-ish

Album is pretty good the band very tight and got their own sound going on

don't know if anyone still checks these boards, but....

i've seen it on here before, but Tesseract's One is my favorite album right now (though this changes constantly). not too thrilled about their new singer though. i have the new EP and only gave it a once through so far.... hopefully it grows on me, though.

anyone here hear of Unexpect? not exactly similar, but if you love a rather esoteric, niche sound, they've got it. check out the song "Unsolved Ideas of a Distorted Guest"

and i know there are quite a few Ihsahn fans here (or were). anyone like Leprous? don't know if this is true, but i've heard it's basically Ihsahn's backing band. Bilateral is a great album. worth a checking out, i'd say.

Hey TL,

Yeah TesseracT's "ONE" was on my Best of 2011 releases (with the 2nd singer Daniel Tomkins, the latest is their 3rd). Daniel now sings with "Haji's Kitchen"

Unexpect and Leprous are awesome! Known about them for quite some time now. I listed the latest Leprous, Unexpect albums (and TesseracT) along with the staff at Metal Music Archives.c0m as some of the best Metal Albums of 2011.

If you like Unexpect and other Avant-Garde musics, checkout my playlist:

As far as Tech/Math Metal, I just updated my LIST above. Working on a Playlist for that type of Metal as well, hope to be done by the Months end.

:D

Clean vocals and tech is kinda hard to come by. Confessor's 'Condemned' isn't "tech", but it's not not tech at the same time. If you can tolerate death vocals try: Necrophagist, Gory Blister's 'Art Bleeds', Spawn of Possession, Atheist, Theory in Practice. Don't forget about Cynic. :)

Theory In Practice does have some very SERIOUS tunes. But their last release disappointed me big time.

I'm really losing my mind over how good Exivious is. Top level. 2009 album rocks my world, totally unique. Their demos are even crazier in terms of tech-death. I'm speechless.

Guys check out VIOLENT DIRGE from Poland. They released their last album in 1995, called Craving. Fantastic Cynic-esque tech death. It's not nearly as complex but the essence is there. Cool groove, enough technicality to keep us players interested in the chops, very cutting edge production, free flowing solos... It's got a lot going. Definitely check them out. Production is surprisingly good, years ahead of their European peers. It's like listening to a rawer Focus. Very very highly recommended. Polish bands are fucking incredible man, they are so fresh, heavy and "out there".
