IN FLAMES new album being released by the end of 2016

Definitely a Björn solo. Im pretty sure either Björn or Jesper or even both said Björn does almost all solos. Another great solo is the Come Clarity, Crawl Through Knives & Reflect the Storm. CC had great solos imo.

There's an interview where Jesper said he hates solos, and I'm sure he said Bjorn wasn't big on them either. That's why there are a number of "guest" solos across the Big Four.

The solo on the song Come Clarity is really nice. Again, fits perfectly. Somewhere around ASOP Bjorn just seemed to completely lose the ability to write a decent solo that fit in with the music.

And then he does solos as a guest guitar player

Wooow, Crawl Through Knives as a great solo?! I love that song, a legit contender for best IF song ever made, but best solo? I think that's a bit of a hard stretch.

Zombie Inc. is one of the best for sure, but Stand Ablaze is another favorite of mine.

Edit: and yes, back then I translated for you a Hungarian IF interview, and Björn said he doesn't like doing solos.

I like how a lot of their fans that mostly just like the new direction of soft metal/hard rock or whatever live by the In Flames We Trust mantra even though that started a long ass time ago. That mantra was supposed to be for older IF. Am I wrong?
So what, you owe it now? You are more valuable for being there first? Come on, we've been through this shit already....
So here's my review for the album. Listened it through the night and I can say that its better than the SC.
*cries in a corner*

I agree on Battles though, not sure why it's getting love.

I said it was a great solo, not the best ^^

Sorry man, they've been doing this for two albums now.

Also, when you recycle old riffs, 4 notes melodies and your every solo sounds absolutely the same... i can't see how is that "reinventing"?

It is just a lack of inspiration and direction.

Not once this material gives me the urge to play something on guitar, or learn some of that stuff. It's just so flat, predictable and banal.

I do completely agree with you! It sounds fresh but boring to me as well. But it just is very far removed from their previous stuff...(just my opinion) and I guess that is what peeks my interest. It is gonna take some listening for sure. There was a thought that crossed my mind yesterday when listening to it, that they have now fully lost their integrity with who IF used to be. However, I also really like "Risk" by Megadeth so... We'll see what happens. lol

So my CD arrived a day early and have now listened to the album 3 times. Here is my brief review: *LONG POST WARNING*

Drained - Great intro, awesome riff. Vocals good, Chorus catchy. Solo is another passable but forgettable Wah-fest. 8/10

The End - Another great song, love the main riff/melody. Chorus is a bit dull, but the section after the second chorus is awesome. 8/10

Like Sand - Took me 2 or 3 listens to get this song, but now I really like it. sounds like a mix of All for Me and Satellites and Astronauts. Rreally neat chorus, good vocals. 7.5/10

The Truth - Still hate that intro. Great catchy verses, bad chorus. Good Solo from Bjorn. 5/10

In My Room - Intro forgettable, cool verses. Transition to the chorus sounds really funny and doesn't work, ruining the song for me - it sounds like 2 good songs mashed together. 4/10

Before I Fall - Love that intro, good vocals and an awesome chorus. Proper good laid back In Flames song. Solo another typical Bjorn wah-wah-wah-wank. Not bad, but doesn't do anything to progress the song. 8/10

Through my Eyes - Don't like the main riff, or the verse riff. Pproduction still sounds weird on this one. Chorus and Prechorus ae really nice. Alright solo, but is mixed too loud. 6.5/10

Battles - Short, Rock-y. Chorus sounds like Sum 41 (seriously, listen to War by Sum 41, and then this and you'll see what I mean). Rest of the song otherwise forgettable. 6/10

Here Until Forever - Meaning behind the song is good, but the intro melody sounds too cheesy with the riff in the background. Chorus is over the top 'epic' and sounds forced, like they were going for arena rock (Like *shudders* Bring me the Horizon). 4/10

Underneath my Skin - Main riff sounds like Laid to Rest by Lamb of god, but in a good way. weird verses. Good chorus. Interesting solo. 7.5/10

Wallflower - Good, but not as good as it was hyped to be. Lyrics bleh. (except the last 4 lines, the bit about age and feeling old) Good riffs. 7/10

Save Me - Meh intro, Awesome melodic guitars. Meh verses. Meh Chorus, etc etc. 6/10

Greatest Greed - Awesome intro, Dig the chorus. Good song IMO. 8/10

Us Against The World - Oh god... Nice intro, good verses, but it's way too happy, and the Chorus is just cringy.... Leaves a bad taste in the mouth as it ends a generally good album. 3/10

Overall: 7/10. Some Great songs, some Good songs, some very Forgettable ones. Better than Siren Charms, mostly due to the more 'upbeat' feel and the more energy in the songs. Also Anders' not whining vocals make a nice change from SC's questionable work.

In Jespers' yes. In IF, I think I've been twice. I don't care that much about senseless fighting with fanboys.

Oh, how Bjorn fucked up on Drained solo.

Started so cool. For once the sound was good, wah was working, melody epic and he cut iz off! Twat!

He can try to make good long solos, but then Anders wouldn't be the star.

That's not all that was cut off. Listen to the end of The Truth and you'll hear that they cut out the last second. 03:02-ish.

Did you notice that short (neo)classical sounding segment in Underneath my skin solo, 2:30?

God I hate how bad the guitar production is on this album.

The cleans sound terrible. The distortion is so damn fuzzy and farty. ASOP all over again.

Listened the whole thing again today. Yeah, not my kind of album, but it it listenable unlike SC.

Been listening C&C after that. Damn, it sounds like more thought was put into Pallar Anders Visa than in complete post SOAPF discography.

Also, Clayman is the most mature sounding IF album. Don't know what happened after that one, but on Clayman they sound like a bunch of grown up people and skilled songwriters and musicians. Top songwriting, top sound, top production, somber atmosphere, tight riffs, tight drumming, beautiful melodies, dry and vicious screams, good lyrics. Everything was in place.

And, when talking about commercial aspect...with one or two more albums of similar sound and quality I think they would be a household headliner name in metal. But, they wandered off following all the trends and we're here today. Listening US rock radio music.
