Maiden have kicked off the new leg of their Somewhere Back in Time tour. Blabbermouth has the new setlist. Hmm.

01. Intro: Churchill Speech + Aces High
02. 2 Minutes To Midnight
03. Wrathchild
04. Children Of The Damned
05. Phantom of the Opera
06. The Trooper
07. Wasted Years
08. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
09. Powerslave
10. Run To The Hills
11. Fear Of The Dark
12. Hallowed Be Thy Name
13. Iron Maiden
-------------------------------------
14. Number Of The Beast
15. The Evil That Men Do
16. Sanctuary

I can't think off the top of my head what we got instead of the new songs, apart from Moonchild and The Clairvoyant. What am I forgetting, if anything?

Which ones are the new ones?

I was thinking the other day about how it'd be cool if Maiden did a Metallica and offered downloads of each concert for sale but then I realised it'd be the same show over and over :)

New ones are Wrathchild, Phantom, Children, Evil and Sanctuary.

OK, just checked. The old setlist was:

01. Intro - Churchill's Speech
02. Aces High
03. 2 Minutes to Midnight
04. Revelations
05. The Trooper
06. Wasted Years
07. The Number of the Beast
08. Run to the Hills
09. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
10. Powerslave
11. Heaven Can Wait
12. Can I Play With Madness?
13. Fear of the Dark
14. Iron Maiden
-----------------------------
15. Moonchild
16. The Clairvoyant
17. Hallowed Be Thy Name

Man it would have been awesome if they had have played both in Melbourne rather than the same twice. That is my only complaint about the nights though. Still awestruck by how fucking amazing those gigs were.

That said, seeing them play Children of the Damned in 07 was pretty awesome as well. Love that song. Phantom and Evil That Men Do would have been amazing, but I wouldn't have wanted to lose Revelations. Seeing that live was like a religious experience.

"Bind all of us together
Ablaze with hope and free
No storm or heavy weather
Will rock the boat you'll see
The time has come to close your eyes
And still the wind and rain
For the one who will be king
The Watcher in the Ring"

We know who the real lyricist is in this band, don't we?

listened to Revelations from the show last year (have a bootleg on MP3) and it is indeed an awesome song.

though wonder why it isn't more popular.

think it just lacks the hooks of the other more well known numbers.

any word though on Maiden's next tour, covering the 2nd half of their career?

I imagine their next tour will be for their next album (I'd expect a 2010 release w/ 2010/early 2011 tour) before they do another greatest hits tour (if they do).

I don't think they will, though.

So am I right in saying that it's

In:

Children
Wrathchild
Phantom
Sanctuary
Evil

Out:

Heaven
Moonchild
Can I?
Revelations
Clairvoyant

Dropped 4 Somwhere/7th Son songs, and only replaced it with 1. Set now looks for like the Early Years list which only covered the first four albums.

Having said that I'd be tempted to swim the Tasman just to hear Phantom and Children of the Damned live.

It's also on Maiden England, and they played it on the Beast on the Road tour (might be on 12 Wasted Years and the Early Days DVD but can't be bothered checking).
