IS having TestAmenT as an opening band a bad choice for Anthrax?

Testament would be a great "opener". It seems that they are coheadling and it sucks.. Testament are ok but I have been waiting a long ass time for a headling Anthrax show. Not an hour set.

The only time I saw an opener steal the show was Fall of Troy opening for Coheed. FT was fucking nuts and awesome. Then they had Clutch on next which didn't fit in with the line up at all. Then Coheed came on with their female back up singers and stage set up and all this other shit that was way too much for them. My friends and I were blown away by Fall of Troy and just couldn't get in to anything else.

I saw Torche open for Isis in 2007 and they blew them off the stage. Isis played a lot longer but were a snoozefest compared to Torche that night.

Also saw Kreator/Fear Factory last year. The 2 bands were on tour separately, but were playing Houston on the same night so they just made a big metal fest out of it, so I guess it was more of a co-headlining show w/ FF playing last. But Kreator unsurprisingly blew them off the stage and seemed to have played a longer set despite not being the last band.

It's never a good Idea to have a band that's more energetic than the headliner open the show. It sets the bar higher.

Torche is a badass band live. I saw them headline at Walter's. With Isis being a way more mellow band I could see how Torche would blow them away.

I can't wait for this Testament/ Anthrax show. I think it's going to be just fine having them play in whatever order.

I wish Meridian was still open. It would be badass to see them there instead of warehouse which has been real hit or miss for me.

hahahaha oh my God, if not Anthrax in that tour would not go more than 200 people hahaha, I saw testament in Venezuela a couple of months ago is a band that is well below the level of Anthrax.

is an insult to compare testament with anthrax, anthrax is superior in every way:rolleyes:

The Meridian was great for metal shows. I think the sound will be good for Anthrax/Testament at Warehouse Live. If not, then I'll be glad that I will have went to the Austin show too.

Really? In which ways would that be?

Joey is better than Chuck Billy?
Rob Caggiano is better than Alex Skolnick
Charlie is better than Paul Bastoph/Gene Hoglan?
Scott Ian is better than Eric Peterson?

I'd say Testament is every bit as talented as Anthrax and has a more consistent catalog.

If Thrash is your primary taste, then it would be easy to see it that way, which is fine. A lot of us here like the variety. Anthrax is Thrash/Heavy Metal and it's all good to me.

Does it matter?
They are bands, not soccer teams.

^ Agree, bands are more than the sum of their parts. And what about that midget Louie Clemente? Charlie is 1000x better than him!

Only on this forum will people say Testament isn't a great band and bitch about Testament & Anthrax being on the same bill

Testament does have a more consistent catalog than Anthrax.

I don't think there's a single metal drummer in existence that is better than Gene Hoglan. Benante is good but he really doesn't even come close to the metal-drumming beast that is Hoglan.

Testament has some good stuff. I saw them a couple times back in the day and they were good live.. They are not a great band though. Alot of their stuff sounds the same and it somewhat bland. They would have beena great opening band this tour but unfortunately they are co-headliners.
